That was prototype Avanti number EX2946 before it got renumber (new S/N). I do not know the answer to your question, but it is likely true.
-
I remember reading about this, but I do not remember where. I will guess 2) 57.
-
Sort of true. It was derived from the 1953 wheelcover which the 1955 cover was also derived from.
-
1985 model year. There were no 1986 Avantis.

Gary is most likely right. I don't have any experience wrenching on Avantis, but...............I'll say the first thing to check is the clearance between the oil pan and the steering bellcrank/tie rods.
That is also a good clearance to check.
-
I'll make a stab at this - 2) 1957.
-
Fan blade clearance and other clearances, like fuel pump.
-
I am not where I could look it up, so I will give my best educated guess - 4) AVX.

False - Item 45 for all models (Hawk, Lark, Avanti) except with automatic transmission.
-
1) 180

The article was published in 2010.....Gary, you're assuming that 166 1987 Avanti automobiles were produced because the last one built was assigned # 166 ........
However, 1987 Avanti #'s 152, 162, and 165 were for some reason never actually built.
This is the reason TOTAL Avanti production for 1987 was 163 units.
Thank you! I am still learning things.

New York State inspection (annual) requires that all original emissions equipment be installed and functioning. You may find an inspector that doesn't know what should be there, but that does not make it legal.

"87-'88 Avanti production figures have been debated over the years.....however, I'm going with John Hull's comprehensive research regarding this topic.
I refer you to 'AVANTI MAGAZINE issue # 152,( page 12)....'87 production 163 units, '88 production 180 units.
Gary's FALSE answer to my original trivia question was CORRECT however!
I don't know when John Hull did that article. His book; "Avanti the Complete Story" (2008) has numbers that agree with mine/what I list above.

I think that we are in semantics again. When dealing in car numbers, we usually refer to model years. Obviously, you are referring to calendar years (unless your production numbers disagree with mine).
-
I'll say no. 1) very complicated.

More Avanti automobiles were built in 1987 than in 1988......True?
False - There were 166 in 1987 (one of which I bought new) and 180 in 1988.
-
True
-
For some reason, I think 3) Alain.

Off the top of my head, I would say two hours per car, or answer no.2.

I visited with Tommy over the years, but many years since we last spoke. I had lost track of him. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Studebaker estimated the installation time of the Avanti roof drip mouldings to be............?
1) 30 minutes per side.........2) 1 hour per side.......or......3) 4 hours total
The time for the factory to install them starting with R-4420 or for dealer installation on prior builds?
-
MFG - You replied to many other trivia items, but skipped this one. Am I correct?
-
False - The air dam will work at speed.
-
I do not see it listed in standard equipment for 1983, so I will say true.

Here's one where I agree with you Ed/MFG.
