-
plwindish & Gunslinger.....I think that you are both correct....but the 'auto company' that really came to the rescue of both Studebaker AND Avanti Motors would be Checker. If Checker hadn't created a demand for new bellhousings to mate the small block Chevy to the 3 speed Borg Warner cast iron transmission (which Checker was also using at the time) Avanti Motors would have not had the resources to create that needed (key) part. Avanti (and Studebaker) would probably have had to try to use the 2 speed Chevy Power-Glide transmission in their automobiles.

Trivia....The first factory installed collapsible steering column showed up in the 1967 Avanti ll's to meet federal safety standards....True?
-
Yes, custom steering wheel adapters are available for most any '57 and newer Studebaker, pre '57 is a different story!
-
No thoughts on this one?

I know but I was only going by the parts manual. R3's don't have a manifold heater control valve so it's possible a standard pipe might fit up.
Probably not Gunslinger. As you know, the R3-R4 headers are much 'deeper' than standard Studebaker manifolds....probably by at least 3"...possibly more.

"500" it is! (Indy500?----Daytona500?)
-
Right!...Studebaker Avantis had no 'secret serial number' on their rear 'tubular type' crossmember.
-
Yes!....A white pre-production Avanti was shown at Indianapolis in early May, '62
-

-
On Studebaker Avantis, what was the 'model' name of the Firestone whitewall bias-ply tires?
-
Trivia...On all '64 Studebaker passenger cars a 'secret serial number' was stamped into the frames rearmost crossmember.....True?

That's it! Thibeault has been making and selling brass lower bushings for years for a permanent cure.

I wear ball caps all the time......and I'd be proud to wear one honoring 'Operation Avanti Tribute' (although unfortunately I wont be attending)
