ANSWER......This '55-'57 air filter assy (side draft type) will fit onto the Avanti carb and is not too high, but won't clear the right inner fender skirt.......so the answer here is FALSE!

That's exactly the reason....The enamel Studebaker used, while no where near as 'tough' as what auto manufacturers use today, did stand up better than the acrylic lacquer Studebaker used on their Avantis.

What was the reason Studebaker Avanti factory paint jobs seemed to 'wash out' (fade) sooner than the factory paint work found on other period Studebaker passenger cars? (All else being equal)

Not too sure about the broken ear (overtightening?) But Thibeault supplies THREE thin gaskets in some of his kits, so the answer here is still indeed FALSE!

The length of the unit, as you mention, may be an issue for Stude Avantis equipped with P/S......That, and the fact the GH pump is not capable of the same 'flow' and pressure, makes the answer here FALSE!
