Improved planetary drive race load springs were phased into Paxton supercharger production in late 1963….The improved race load springs are identified by the color ……?…… 1) blue…..2) red…..3) yellow…..or…..4) orange

Anyone who may have further information concerning this trivia question is welcome to respond….?

This information ’apparently’ indicates that the count of surviving ‘EX’ Studebaker Avanti’s is four, as posted in Avanti Magazine issue # 205.

The list of 10 EX Avantis compiled by John Hull does not include EX2143. (63R-1006 The Terrible Turkey) EX2143 is the serial number of an engine listed on the roster of Studebaker & Avanti R3/R4/R5 powered cars.

I went with info posted in Avanti magazine issue 205… An authenticity advisor indicated there are four surviving ‘EX’ cars…. You have listed five along with current owners/locations…. Based on your info, it seems your prior answer of “At least FIVE” is correct!… (Thanks)

Dave has one at Garys, and one here with me, the DueCento of Richards, Dave Paris' race car,(the Terrible Turkey) and the one red one ( R3) from BC Canada. is five I know of.

I’d recommend having them include photos of any used parts as well. This step may help you avoid a situation where you have to return unacceptable items and eat a 15% restocking fee. Also, nail down shipping costs. I paid about $60 to have some rusty parts shipped to me, but only $16 to have them returned. Maybe also ask the question “Would you put these parts on your car?”

Your rattle could be the vertical window channels that guide the windows on each end which may need replacing due to the felt being worn out. The outer weather strip at the top of the door is to prevent/reduce the amount of water that can enter the door from rain the inner to prevent the glass from rubbing on the inner door trim.

The reason I asked timeline is You could be inferring the 2001-07 models. Thus the AVX numbers.

Thanks everyone. My car is a '63, but I would go with the '64 cores if I had to. My car isn't completely stock so it wouldn't matter. I was hoping to find a member that had the parts, thinking I might get a better price and at the same time help out a fellow member, but I'll reach out to Dan and John for prices and see where that goes.
