Rodgers bracket is for a Sanden 508. I made my own bracket, and used a 7176 series. it is serpentine. They do make them in V-belt too.

Delco used white lithium grease in their switches, I am inclined to believe that this would be excellent in these switches as well.

No, but what I should have said was the PCV (not EGR) started in 1962/63. I dunno what I was thinking (another old age brain fart). Thanks for correcting me. I will edit my earlier post.

If my funds were not tied up I would be a serious buyer..

Skip Did you mean 1972 and 1973 for EGR?

Still not available for me.

Both the engine and T-10 trans in my 74 Avanti are original to the car. The engine is Chevrolet orange. Both the bell housing and trans are unpainted aluminum. I also have five (1962-1995) Chevys with their original V8s and standard (3, 4, 5, and 6-speed) transmissions. They all have painted bell housings and unpainted transmissions. I don't think GM painted their standard transmissions.

I was able to access the site this morning, join the forum and view threads and posts.

True, but that depends on the model year. [Edit: PCV] valves started in 1962 in California and nationwide in 1963. Various other systems were added in later years (usually more in Calif). Probably the worst year was 1974, when the various systems (and things like revised ignition timing) really strangled horsepower. The adoption of catalytic converters in 1975 allowed the manufacturers to remove some of that stuff -- but others (air injection pumps, etc) were added in subsequent years. There's an interesting conflict/conundrum WRT our cars: Federal law prohibits the removal of any mandated emissions equipment -- but doesn't require the manufacturers to continue to keep such stuff available. So some of us have had to completely remove emissions systems because the parts to fix it were NLA. In addition (and probably most importantly), the EPA allows the states to exempt vehicles with historic/antique license plates from emissions inspection. So if you have historic tags, you can pretty much modify your car any way you want. (That said, some states require cars with antique/historic tags to be unmodified. However, their ability to enforce such rules is pretty limited.)

Pair of 2002 Avanti (Firebird) Wheels
Dwight FitzSimons replied to sailor87506's topic in Avanti Parts
It looks like your wheels are 8" wide (not 9"). The measurements that we use are the effective width & diameter, not the overall width & diameter. In other words, the points where the tire seats. Another example would be the diameter of the wheel. If you measure the overall diameter you will find that it is close to 19". --Dwight, powered by Studebaker -
Still down for me.

Below are more 5-year sales charts for a random selection of classic cars. FWIW: I’ve also included a 5-year chart for a S&P 500 index fund.

The sale price for R-3080 was revised to $41,888 as of this morning. Below are two screenshots that show average sale prices for R1’s and R2’s.

I’d guess the Granatellis brought at least a dozen extra Paxton superchargers with them (for backup insurance)when they set out to break Bonneville records with Studebakers in 1963!

We need your 2001-2007 Avanti Information
ronmanfredi replied to ronmanfredi's topic in 2001-2007 Avanti models
It's been a year since I posted this. So I'm asking again if anyone had recently discovered the whereabouts of any 2001-2007 Avanti's. We've seen some sold and were able to locate some of the owners, others we haven't. We know about the cars that belong to current AOAI members but there are so many non members cars that are still missing. I've read back years of AOAI magazines and discovered some cars, but the then owners are no longer members and we don't know what happened to their cars either. Any help would be appreciated! -
I had a heck of a time joining this forum. The Fort Knox security question kept showing “unsuccessful” despite providing the correct answer. Somehow, I managed to get an email address for Lewis Schucart, contacted him directly, and he was able to create a profile for me.

Beautiful car.

I get your ‘dig’…. however, at least I was willing to try….. Perhaps YOU should put your money where your mouth is a give the job a try yourself?? Be well!

I installed one on the R4 clone I showed at MCACN in 2016. Pretty straight foward installation. I made an aluminum adapter to interface the mounting from the booster and the firewall. I used an adjustable heim joint on the linkage to the pedal. I installed the booster so the accumulator was at the top, and it snuggled nicely into the inner fender cutout for the original brake booster area. If you want to use AN lines, fittings are available from several sources.

I suppose this was in spite of your vast experience with web servers, PHP, cloud computing, and outstanding people skills.

(final?) 64StudebakerAvanti…. Just need to add… You mentioned I should consider volunteering to help…. A few years ago, when the current SDC forum administrator was reluctant to reveal his SDC forum annual salary, I volunteered to take over SDC forum administrative duties AT NO COST TO THE CLUB. I was hoping that perhaps a second person, more computer savvy than myself, could help me with that…. I never heard anything back from SDC.
-
I’ve clearly expressed how I feel about the poor job the current SDC forum administrator has done over the years.. and I question his “hard” work….I sure have never seen it on the SDC forum! That’s my final comment here…. Be well.

I am not disparaging either of the forum admins. I appreciate all the hard work they do to keep the sites running. Just pointing out that most, if not all, forums have issues from time to time. Ed, you seem to have a serious issue with Clark @ the SDC forum. Perhaps instead of attacking, you could volunteer to help. I am still confused on why the SDC forum continues to work for me and, apparently, no one else. Perhaps it is because I never log out?
