I need to convert the tapered axles on my '63 R-1 road race Avanti to flanged axles. Is it possible and what is required for the conversion??

I searched the forum and saw maybe it had been done but couldn't find any examples of how.

Later Avanti ll's ('78-'85) used a flanged axle Dana 44 which would be a bolt-in.:)

Hello Chuck

I believe Fairborn supply you with a kit (everything you need) and instructions to fit the axles.

My 71 has flanged axles.  Good idea to change.  Had 1 taper break on my 63 and 2 on a 60 Hawk.  No fun with single master cylinder.

My '70 has flanged axles as well.  I know of at least one later Avanti with tapered axles.  It seems during assembly the parts guy pulled whatever axles were easy to get...not use up old stock first.
