EXACTLY Gary!....Production filters were painted black. (same AC3311 part number though!....also, late Stude Avanti production may have used red....NOT MANY!) Edited December 8, 2018 by mfg
brad Posted December 8, 2018 Report Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Then what are the white with red texture grip end filters? It would be good to provide pictures, and documentation. Edited December 8, 2018 by brad

It would be good to provide pictures, and documentation. The red and white oil filters are also part number AC-3311 filters.......They were probably manufactured in Canada...Studebaker used Wix and Hasting "212" oil filters which they had painted over. Most Avanti experts agree that the majority of Studebaker Avantis left the factory with BLACK painted AC-3311 oil filters! Edited December 8, 2018 by mfg

No Avantis left the factory with AC-3111 oil filters. They left the factory with AC-3311 oil filters.
mfg Posted December 8, 2018 Author Report Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Just located the AVANTI MAGAZINE article on these oil filters (AC-3311) by Al Basile.....Article has color examples of the black, all red, and red and white oil filters. Apparently, the filters made for Studebaker in Canada had a different 'AC' number....AC-2559. PS....Article in issue # 172. Edited December 8, 2018 by mfg
