Jim S Posted June 4 Report Posted June 4 Does anyone know what brand X year make and model fits front and rear shocks for a 72 Avanti? I’m asking because I can get them for employee cost at O’Reilly auto parts if there are parts that fit.
Gunslinger Posted June 4 Report Posted June 4 The front shocks are the same as a ‘63-‘65 Buick Riviera. I don’t know of a direct rear crossover. I do believe you can modify rear Camaro shocks for the rear but I don’t know what years.
AG-R3 Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 If you rummage thru here, you can find your fit https://studebaker-info.org/rjtechjan2026p2.html#shock
wildfelr Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 GOOD MORNING JIM I HAVE A SET OF REAR SHOCKS RECENTLY REMOVED FROM RQB3263/81 HERE IN NORTH FLORIDA ALONG WITH OTHER STUFF ...give me a call 386-466-6434 bill gregg .....thanks
grant mills Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 One thing to look out for regarding the front shocks. The shocks I bought, and all others that I looked at, had the same problem. The lower flange was 3" from end to end.....the center of the mounting holes on the lower A-arm are 3.5" apart. I eventually solved my issue by extending each side of the lower flange with 3/16 stock flat iron, carving out an slot for the carriage bolt slots on the welded extensions. I posted pictures of the extensions in a post last year
Kodjo Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Bought these for rear, drop in replacement: KONI 8040-1018: https://finder.koni.com These were made for a CHEVROLET CAMARO and PONTIAC FIREBIRD but will do on any Avanti II
