mfg Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:04 AM In the fall of 1962, what was the connection between the United States Line steamer “American Chief” and Studebaker’s new Avanti?

regnalbob Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Ian Fleming's Avanti was shipped to the U.K. on the American Chief.

Fleming’s Avanti was serial # 63R1728, and as far as I know it has been lost to history. (If anyone has new info about this Avanti, it would be nice to hear it)
mfg Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago I wouldn’t doubt Ian Fleming’s ‘63 Avanti is stored away under blankets in some obscure garage or barn somewhere in the United Kingdom… It’s amazing what comes to light occasionally! In the morning I’m going to look at a two owner 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk (for sale) that has been in storage for 45+ years… Original paint… and sitting inside the same garage, strapped to it’s Utica shipping pallet, is a NOS 1956 Packard 352 V8 engine the seller purchased all those years ago, but never installed….. Pretty amazing!
