aardvark Posted Saturday at 09:22 PM Report Posted Saturday at 09:22 PM So, we have the Original '63-64's, Following that comes a slew of '65-85?'s , then the 2001-2007's. The question is what are the average sell prices in all 3 categories? Please if possible break to down into those 3 segments. Lets use a 1-10 category and yes a 7 as a focus point..Not a perfect method by any means but an educated guess is desired.
mfg Posted Saturday at 09:45 PM Report Posted Saturday at 09:45 PM Tough question, as lately it seems like collector car selling prices in general are down. Of course, there’s always exceptions!
64StudebakerAvanti Posted Sunday at 01:31 AM Report Posted Sunday at 01:31 AM Why not use Hagerty's valuation tool as a guide?
Hogtrough Posted Sunday at 02:36 AM Report Posted Sunday at 02:36 AM (edited) I'll take a stab at 63 and 64. R1 needing everything 8K, driveable but needing TLC 12K, nice drivers needing little or no work 20-25K. R2 needing everything 12K, driveable but needing TLC 16K, nice driver needing little or no work 25-30K. I don't know much about the later models. Here is what Hagerty says abouut R1...: Edited Sunday at 02:50 AM by Hogtrough

Hogtrough Posted Sunday at 02:47 AM Report Posted Sunday at 02:47 AM (edited) Hagerty prices look unrealistic at first, at least to me. However, a big factor is that nearly all sellers would pick a condition number one larger than their car would really deserve. A number two car is driven, but otherwise virtually flawless in every way, and a number one car never leaves the trailer. My Avanti recently experienced a condition downgrade when a body shop I left it with parked it outside with the windows down for 2 months, pretty much reversing everything I had done to the interior and ruining what was left of the paint by sanding it. When I'm done redoing it, with new paint and refurbished interior, the car will be a strong number three R1 with air conditioning, putting it at $27,600. Sounds about right. aardvark Posted Monday at 09:41 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 09:41 PM Haggerty and Bring a Trailer have pricing data. They basically follow the sales trends. I'll buy that for the R-1 and R-2.. but there are other models.
64StudebakerAvanti Posted Monday at 11:18 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:18 PM They do list Avanti with R3 engine with and without 4spd
aardvark Posted yesterday at 06:10 AM Author Report Posted yesterday at 06:10 AM Yeah, it's due to rarity. And other issues enter into the mix. So then.. I have a '02' model.. 1 of 33 made. 1 of 15 in Convertible... I bought it at the right price (quite low) and in the 2 years I've watched it escalate to over 3X what I paid. They seem to be averaging $50k+. One recently sold for well over $100k (a fluke). So I'm in a quandary as to sell or not. Will it keep escalating in price? My suspicion is YES!..Mainly due to low miles and rarity.
Footer Posted yesterday at 02:25 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:25 PM Do all nine original R3 cars still exist, and I wonder if there are still any 3 speed cars that haven’t been converted?
64StudebakerAvanti Posted yesterday at 04:58 PM Report Posted yesterday at 04:58 PM If you can get $50k, you should sell:
aardvark Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) That is not the pricing I have seen. By the way, what year car are those numbers representing? Edited 22 hours ago by aardvark
aardvark Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago footer. Seems like there are more out there than were actually produced.
Avanti1963! Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago aardvark, please tell us about the one that sold for over $100K. Even over $50k is hard to believe these days.
64StudebakerAvanti Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago The posted prices are for 2002 Avanti convertible.
aardvark Posted 12 hours ago Author Report Posted 12 hours ago I believe there was just recently an R2 that sold for $150 and the one newer model that was in storage overseas went very high as well. For the R2, look in the For Sale section here. It kinda shows there are possibilities to bring the cars into unexpected profits. So currently I have an '02'. I wouldn't let it go for less than $60k.Understand I don't want to sell right now but if offered that, it would be gone. Will it bring that price today? Maybe but not likely.. All said, they will be bringing that in the future if the current price rises I've been watching continue. The price of mine has near tripled since I bought it just 2 years ago.
ronmanfredi Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago It's pretty irrelevant what any of the websites say about the value of the cars. They are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them at the time.
aardvark Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago Amen Ron. Considering the rarity, It leaves us room to ask what We want. I'm in conversation with a guy right now who is searching hard for a '02' or newer, He's hitting a wall and can't accurately find any Comps on the vehicles. Imagine no real Comps... when only about 35 a year were even produced.
