Bernie
I have this magazine from June 1963 with a multipage Avanti article. Would there be interest if I post it? I don't think it would violate any copywrite laws being 60 years ago?
Dwight FitzSimons
I don't really know copyright laws, but I would guess that you are ok with posting the article, for a couple reasons: 1) Hot Rod's copyright on this article expired a long time ago. 2) Posting it would be good advertising for Hot Rod. 3) You are not posting the article for any financial gain. --Dwight
wildfelr
what is the fuel capacity of 1971 avanti ?
Dwight FitzSimons
IIRC, the fuel tank capacity of Studebaker Avantis and Avanti IIs, at least up through 1971, is 21 gallons. --Dwight

Nelson
I always thought that R3 Avanti was red with a black interior and it turned out to be turquoise with a matching interior.

Ditto!… In the black & white pics ‘Avanti Red’ seems to me the most likely exterior color… and that interior shot sure looks like a black interior! mfg
Actually… it’s VERY hard to believe those seats aren’t black….Could HRM have substituted a photo of another Avanti’s interior??
mfg
Perhaps the same Avanti which HRM used forthe R2 engine picture??
mfg
Note the correct black painted Paxton supercharger in the R2 engine photo.

Nelson
I think the photos in the article we all thought was the R3 Avanti were actually the R2 or R1?
Geoff
Definitely a possibility. Photographers will shoot "B roll" just for backup purposes, though sometimes those are what hit print. I was granted a media pass once to shoot an ALMS race at Laguna Seca. It was at the 6-hour season ending race in '05. Amazing access, fun times. Some of my "I don't think this'll make it" shots were what got published.
