Greeness
We need to place the rear of the '81 Avanti on jack stands. Where do we position the floor jack in order to lift the car so that we can slide in the jack stands? Same question for the lifting the front of the car? pantera928
I would lift from under the differential chunk or do side by side under the axles where the leaf springs attach
64studeavanti
Agree with lifting rear under differential. If 81 is similar to earlier models, I usually place floor jack under the center steering bell crank.
studegary
I do not believe in lifting from the differential. This places a strain/bending on the axle tubes that is not a normal force. Lift from each side individually.
pantera928
Benn lifting from the center for over 50 years. No issues. YMMV FYI, an 81 is just like earlier models. I think they stayed that way through 1984.
Avanti83
This is one of the handiest jack accessories I've owned as I can lift the entire front end in one lift. I've found a lot of uses for it over the years. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/floor-jacks/steel-floor-jack-cross-beam-64051.html
