No other guesses?

Warren, My 76 has the same switch.

There is more than one year's answer for the question, which is concerning the Avanti bodied cars and not the 2002 - 2007 cars. 1991 is one of the answers as they only made the 15 convertibles that year. Keep thinking about the other years.
-
The only Avantis made in 1991 were 15 convertibles, no coupes or touring sedans, but that is not the complete answer for the "Avanti Bodied" cars, not Firebird or Mustang based.

The info I have is that 3 1985 "Blake" convertibles were produced.

If you are on the back side of 50, your thoughts probably are leaning toward an R 1 with AC, as mine would be. Making a choice between two non-ac cars, I would be looking at the R2. Driving either non-ac car would be the same, but you can get there quicker in an R2 as well as having a higher value of the car.

Did convertible production ever surpass the coupe and touring sedan production in any given year or years? If so, when?

false

So each door has two cranks? That could tend to be very confusing. I'm surprised P.O.'s replaced the handles with cranks.

I had to replace the socket, (actually the entire assembly due a broken tab on the bottom that was supposed to anchor it in the fender), The old socket was corroded and gave the same exact symptoms as you are listing.

The R4's were such rare birds, just how many ended up in GT Hawks??

It was a win-win situation for MFG. Speaking of MFG, are they still doing the Corvette or did that go GM in-house at some point in time?

To my knowledge, there are no newer White Avantis in the Chicagoland Avanti owners group, only a blue 02 Coupe and a yellow supercharged 04 convertible. Must have been someone traveling through the area.

It's interesting as I was at a party this afternoon where there was a 67 Camaro convertible with a 300 hp 327 and I asked the owner if it had solid lifters and the reply was yes. Of course 47 years after it was built, who knows.

Most likely true and false. I had a 64 back in 66-69 that had stress cracks on top of the front fenders behind the wheel wells and also on the top of the rear fenders toward the rear of the wheel openings. No cracks on the cowl near the right side wiper pivot. I'm betting that the MFG bodies and the Studebaker bodies also cracked in different places.
-
I'm thinking true as it was the higher HP 327.
-
I would say false unless there was a weird order. The high back seats were federally mandated so one would not be able to mix a high back and a low back seat after that became law.
-
False.

I thought the Pirate's buckle referred to the roof pillar emblems and the door interior emblems, it also refers to the hood emblem as well?

No warranty on just the R-3 or R-4 engine only, or no warranty on the entire vehicle?
Appliance Wheels?
in 1984-91 Avanti
Posted
One of my fellow Chicagoland AOAI members has an 89 Avanti Convertible with wire wheels missing a center cap. He contacted Dayton and told they were Appliance wheels, which I'm not familiar with. Does anyone with an 89 have a center cap or a set of caps for the wheels? He just got the car back after a very long restoration and wants to get "Christine" properly dressed. Thanks.
