  1. When the pads on my E-Type wear too far the metal plate that is used to remove them comes loose.

At that point the only way to remove them is to disassemble the caliper assembly !

These are the same ones used on the early Aventis.

  2. If you're interested in a later Avanti I'm looking to sell mine.

Its an 84 Black on Black Touring optioned Coupe RQB 3921. I bought it from Dan Booth in 1998. Its in excellent shape Solid through out.

The sun roof works and doesn't leak when driven through a car wash.

The engine is a 350 built by Jasper. With tuned port EFI. The transmission is a 700R4. Final is a 2.86 with posi traction. Gets 25 mpg Has Recaro seats in perfect condition and the back seat hasn't been used since I got it

Everything works properly except the power antennae.

    I'm looking for about $14k.

  3. On 8/7/2014 my bank sent a check for membership renewal to ,P O box 1743 Maple Grove MN 55311.

They didn't get it due to a wrong PO number.

On 10/7/2014 another check was sent to P O Box 1715 Maple Grove MN. 55311.

    It hasn't been cashed.

I've tried calling, 1-763-420-7829 to check on the status of my membership. All I get is a Fax Machine sound.

    What am I doing wrong?

  4. "V" belts work by using the contact on the side of the belt. All other things being equal two narrow belts will have double the coefficient of friction therefore much less slippage allowing the belts to need substantially less tension saving wear and tear on the associated bearings.

Jaguar used a belt with a grove down the center that clamped onto a protrusion in the pulleys. As pressure was applied to the "V" it caused the belt to clamp tighter on the protrusion in the center!

They used this on their high performance engines. My E-Type uses one.

To answer the original question the dual belts are far more efficient even at lower tensions.
