To do this correctly would require removing the "pie" shaped additions to the front fenders.

Have you tried asking Betty Booth at Nostalgic Motors ?

If the car was previously owned by a smoker, it is a very real possibility.

An interesting Trivia question would be " What Porsche uses the same windshield as the Avanti" ?
I have no idea what the answer is but I bet someone in the group does.

When I had my Windshield replaced the shop said that it cross-referenced with a Porsche and that was the reason they are still readily available.

Everyone seems to be using polyester resins and glass matts for the repairs. As it cures a "wax like" film is left on the surface making it a little difficult to finish.
Personally I have been much more successful using "Epoxy" resins. They seem to, adhere better, be much stronger, and wet the cloth better. They are however much harder to sand.
I have also had excellent results using a Bidirectional cloth rather than a matt.

Mine are black but so is the body.

Would appear to me that the Back Glass, Hood, and other body panels would be worth more than that.
If I had an economical way to get it here and a place to keep it , I'd buy it .

My 84 had the "blistered" paint when I got it. The shop that repainted it "Blocked" it all the way down to the original glass then finished it
.

The nice thing about using the Jag rear suspension is that it mounts in a separate sub frame. It might be relatively easy to mate the sub frame to the Avanti frame.
But maybe not.

What are you going to use for "Quarter Window" gaskets ?

I once used a ballast resistor with a "Corvair" engine in an airplane (a Pietenpol). After a couple years it failed at the crimp ends where the connecter is fastened.
So I would say that it's true.

"Floating" Pistons and rods refers to the ability for the wrist pin to move in both the piston and rod. It's usually kept from hitting the cylinder wall by Teflon plugs inserted in the Wrist Pin ends.

Even when they're rusty, it's fairly easy to disassemble the caliper and knock out the old pads. It's still easier than properly installing and adjusting brake shoes.
