R3 & R4 lifters were ____?_____ lighter than a stock R1/R2 lifter?
1) 0 oz.........2) 0.25 oz..........3) 1.2 oz...........4) 2.0 oz
-
True, by a little over 3 oz.
-
False, 1543971 is the earlier head, but supposedly 1555479 is the more common head.

I couldn't find any of the part numbers that matched the Avanti pitman arm.
-
Power steering, and a set of high output pulleys.
-
They were $11.20 in 1987, so I'll guess $7.00 in 1978.
-
Ok, how many of these five were 16:1 ratio boxes? (Someone else than Ed, because I think he knows the answer.)

Well, I was giving others a chance at this easy one. Yes, all nine had TT.
-
The '65 & '66 ads say it was styled after the 1927 - 1930 Mercedes. But they also said Brooks Stevens at the time owned a 1928 Mercedes Benz SSK. So I would have said 1928......but that's not one of your choices.

The metal tag can tell us the following:
- That this is a Twin Traction rear axle (non-TT rear axles don't have this tag)
- The '45' tells us that the ramp angles of the cross pins and differential case are 45 degrees
- The 'B' or 'C' tells us that the rear axle has dished clutch plates & discs, and also tells us the specific clutch & disc arrangement
Probably more information than anyone wanted to know

Was that the date that Jim Lange set his 223.238 mph record at Bonneville 2009 Speed Weeks?
-
150 feet, number 3.
-
I'll guess the thickest material -- 18 gauge, since it was located inside the body itself.

Hmmm..........thought it was B15, but that's not one of the choices, so guess I don't have an answer.

'Cars' magazine had an article on the '64 R4 convertible, still wearing it's #3, that they said was clocked at 146 at Bonneville. Supposedly the car came straight from Bonneville to the 'Cars' editors for the road test. Serial number of this car was 64V1003. So, false, it was #3.
And, by the way, Andy G. set 12 records in this car, but many many more were set in this same car by Vince G. and Barbra Nieland. The January 1964 Hot Rod Magazine 'Bonneville Wrap-up' article has a lot of info on the records set by this car. This same article has a cool pic of the car at speed:
