  1. Only real differences between a type ‘MS’ and type ‘ML’ Paxton SN supercharger is position of the scroll housing (clocking), and the two different types of supercharger drive pulleys….Also, the three drilled and tapped supercharger mounting holes located in the bearing housing are in different positions.
  2. I believe your idea of reapplying a quality rubberized undercoat is ideal. I don’t think trying to seal the fiberglass underbody with any type of resin would be worth the effort… Good luck!

    Avanti Knobs!

    That’s it…a very similar appearance!
  4. “2380” is the serial or production number of supercharger… “MS” means it was destined to be installed on a Stude Avanti…ML indicated the supercharger was destined for installation on a Stude Lark or Hawk.
  5. Same supercharger…. Performance pulleys we’re optional for higher impeller speeds.
  6. I think It’s made out of some type of nylon, and is actually flat
  7. I’m familiar with these carbs… that’s a very special gasket and I doubt if any type of rubber o ring would work

    Avanti Knobs!

    Nope, not Corvette!
  9. The ‘butterfly’ style heat/vent control knobs found on most round light Studebaker Avantis are quite similar to the same items found in a …..?…… 1) ‘62 Pontiac Bonneville…….2) ‘ 59 Chevrolet Corvette….. or…..3) ‘56 Continental Mk ll

    Fueled Avanti!

    Five gallons is CORRECT!
  11. A Stude buddy of mine once owned a ‘64 GT Hawk with the Avanti disc brake factory option….. He almost replaced that car’s brake booster, as pedal effort to stop car was increasing… but as it turned out the problem was an internally collapsed vacuum line between the intake manifold and the brake booster…. From the outside, that vacuum hose looked normal!
  12. 64Studeavanti has a good suggestion… If for any reason that doesn’t work out Stude/Avanti vendor Dave Thibeault has helped me in the past with Avanti brake parts.. including brake boosters…. Good luck!

    Avanti 2005!

    You nailed it!
  14. Good going Leo!
  15. Glad you found answer….. Just figured I’d mention that there are usually some good deals on used Hurst shifters on eBay.

    Avanti 2005!

Pretty sure the 2005 models were based on the Ford Mustang platform…. Sorry, 18.5 isn’t the answer here!
  17. Don’t know the answer, but I can say that the tach in my ‘83 also acts strangely… In cool weather it seems to work perfectly….however during the summer it always reads low, rarely indicating over 2000 RPM no matter what the road speed!

    Frame query

Not very many Avantis with an underside that clean!

    Avanti 2005!

    Fuel tank capacity of a 2005 Avanti convertible is ….?…. gallons. 1) 15.7…….2) 18.5….. or…..3) 19.8
  20. In September of 1966, Paxton Products offered for sale modified Studebaker Avanti fuel tanks, that increased the normal 20 gallon fuel tank capacity by ……?….. gallons. 1) five…….2) ten….. or……3) fifteen
  21. Great story Michaelb….and I believe that all of us Avanti owners have had that ‘stopped in our tracks’ moment when we viewed our first one! …. Ed
  22. Lack of p/s fluid would not harm the other items in the system, but would be very detrimental to the pump itself if car were driven for extended period with belt on.
  23. Once again…. a very special Avanti with an attractive price!
  24. If your mechanic is familiar with the workings of older vehicles, especially the power steering systems used on similar year Ford Motor Company vehicles, he should not have any problem diagnosing and repairing the Studebaker Avanti power steering system…… Purchasing and supplying your guy with a reprint of the ‘63-‘64 Stude Avanti factory workshop manual would be a big help to him… Best of luck…. Ed
  25. Paul, I believe what Dwight actually means is that a person can install a ‘63-‘64 Stude T-10 behind a ‘61-‘62 clutch housing….. but a ‘ 61-‘62 Stude T-10 cannot be installed behind a ‘63-‘64 clutch housing… and I agree with him!
