Just curious, were there 5 more records set after the onitial 29?
-
I would guess the radiator support. I don't believe it can be r&r without removing body - so it is likely it was installed early in the process.
-
I believe it was 29.

Can you share the revised specs?

There was service letter R-1964-4 dated April 24, 1964 that was titled Improved idle cooling - Avanti models equipped with air conditioning. This was for an idle speed cooling improvement kit that consisted of a new smaller water pump pulley (aluminum with only 2 grooves), an A/C belt and a carburetor idle speed-up adapter.
Is this what you are looking for? BTW, my 64 is equipped with this kit.

I have spare power steering. Let me know if interested.

Nope. The next one forward. I think it is number 3.

Don"t forget to check windshield frame and a pillars!
-
George Dimitas had some made. The number i have is 773 486 6026.

Don't know if it is correct, but the stick er on the 64 is on the passenger side of the rear window
-
False
I have 1 4speed and 2 powèrshift and all have the bracket on the frame.

Where in central Florida? I am south of Tampa.

Gunslinger is correct about the clearance issue. I just cut off the extra part of the throttle bracket so it matched the original. BTW, The original AFB used manifold vacuum to control the spark modifier. So, I used the drivers side vacuum port on the Edelbrock. I posted a picture of the original AFB on the SDC site to confirm this. In any case, it does not really matter once you are off idle. Some have reported good results using the ported or timed side.

on a related note, I have R4551 which came from the factory with the 813BKV option. It has the round console knobs, the woodgrain overlays, woodgrain steering wheel, black upholstery, dash and carpet. The anomoly is that the steering column is black not brown like the 64s. Any ideas?

What are the raised letters/numbers? The Avanti transmission I have out right now has N3.

I have 3 stude avantis (2 63 and 1 64) and all have the raised rib kelsey hayes wheels.

The price is a little high, but the initial cost is a small part of the total. I bought a running R1 4spd about 10 years ago for $13,000 and have put about that much in it so far doing all my own work. The only thing left to do is paint for it to be factory fresh - so $20,000 is a good guess for a decent restore. The question is, do you have the time, skills, space and money to repair this one? If so, you could have a very desirable car that would be worth $25,000 - $30,000 depending on how far you went with the restore. If you can't do the work yourself, you would be easily upside down - just like most any other car!

Just for my edification, are not the ones on the valve covers the same? I believe that the larger one is on the oil pan breather tube.

Add is down. Someone must have bought it.
-
As far as I know, none of the early Avantis (including Studebaker) were gel coated.
-
let me know if you need a rear seat, I may have one.
-
Got it open, thanks

According to the ad it has R1 block - "The Block Serial Number is R1456"
"I don't know if it is an E2 from the factory. The parts are repos. The car's serial number which I failed to include, is R3623"
So I guess you got it right.

Thanks, I will give the screwdriver a try.

I think the correct filter is PH11 or equivalent from someone other than Fram.
