  1. Past hour
  2. Some like the ‘look’ of the factory stainless steel grille on these cars…. To me, its real importance is radiator core protection.
  3. Today
  4. So who is getting down on the ground to view a grill?
  5. I believe that SI sells both types.
  6. From what I was told, the schedule was determined by the availability of hotels/rooms. There are many events in that area and most hotels were already booked for 2026.
  7. Grant Got my new 7/8” front bar mounted. I didn’t have enough room to slide the bar over far enough to get the other side in, but I didn’t have any trouble raising the bracket up. Held the end bolts with a needle nose vice grip. Hardest part was getting the new brackets bent into shape so the holes would line up. is there a final verdict in swapping for the shorter steering arms? People happy with the results? Mike
  8. Maybe I could find a used rusty one and paint it black.
  9. Yesterday
  10. Monday through Wednesday? Why is this during the week? Seems like max participation would occur over a Saturday.
  11. Palm Springs California, April 6-8, 2026. Attached are images of the registration form and the schedule of events. This information will be on the AOAI website soon and the next issue of the magazine BUT please know that this information was available at the Washington Penn 2025 meet and dozens of owners started signing up then.
  12. Avanti II grilles are different than Studrbaker Avantis. My 78 has provisions for the extended bumper.
  13. SI has them in reproduction
  14. I haven’t checked but I’m guessing factory grilles are pretty scarce?
  15. Last week
  16. That site ( theavanti dot com) was owned by a Richard Gallatin, who passed a few years back. It's a sure bet that AOAI now has the contents/control of the site. Gallatin was a wizard at the web stuff, but SIO has a lot more car info.

    RIP Jim Lange

I have lots of the parts from Jim in this engine build

    Avanti Rims!

    Youse got it!!
  19. That’s it exactly!
  20. I did one Avanti that someone installed a 62 Lark grille directly in front of the radiator. It bolted to the core support, and was basically flush right in front of the radiator and offered good protection.
  21. 3) 1949 Commander
  22. The idler pulley
  23. Let me know in case you have any question! Paul
  24. Hello Dwight, Some pictures of the engine-bay, wrong booster, bracket from SA, and mounted head brake cylinder from SI. Please note: booster and bracket are looking new, but are repainted.
  25. The BCA 203FF sealed ball bearing plays a critical role in supercharged Studebaker Avantis….. Where is it located on/in the car?
  26. mfg

    Avanti Rims!

Studebaker ‘borrowed’ the inner chromed headlamp rims, found inside the outer glass lens of their ‘round light’ Avantis from the ……?…… 1) 1960 Lark…..2) 1958 Packard Hawk…..3) 1949 Commander…..or……4) 1954 ‘R’ series Pickup Truck
  27. I used black window screening held in place with wire ties looped through factory unused holes in the radiator core support… Not too pretty, but basically invisible, and it does give good protection to the (now quite expensive) radiator core!
  28. I agree with the black for the grille. Lots of options for materials out there.
  29. It seems that bleeding of the brakes is a regular problem and multiple people have posted about not having proper pedal height. No one yet has suggested using a pressure bleeder, when I worked as a mechanic thats how we did all the cars, never bench bleeded ever, never had an issue ever. It is not to difficult to make one. Good luck Guy
