I don’t think that you are using this forum improperly… however, anyone who owns a pre-1987 Avanti and doesn’t obtain a shop manual for it is missing out on some really basic information. ( I’m referring to the 63-‘64 Studebaker Avanti shop manual, which covers many things pertaining to later year Avanti ll models.)

THANK YOU... MAYBE I AM USING THIS FORUM IMPROPERLY...... I WILL TAKE YPUR ADVICE.... -
Hi Brooks- I took the liberty to look RQB2594 on the Bob Johntsone Avanti Registry site. Has your new purchase been improved upon from the Photos taken way back in 2002?
-
Be cautious before opening sites such as this one!
-
I believe ordering a ‘63-‘64 Stude Avanti shop manual would benefit you greatly.
-
Actually, it all depends on how you drive the cars… for ‘moderate’ operation it probably makes no difference.

So, Autolite Platinum AP85 plugs would be appropriate for both an R1 and an R3??? I ask because I have both an R1 and an R3 which both need new plugs. Thanks in advance. --Dwight

Anybody have trouble with clearance of the pressure plate forks and the disc. I have an original Borg an beck pressure plate and disk. They had no mileage on them but being i had the motor out for painting, thought I would replace the disk. Bought a new disk from an Avanti parts dealer. I installed it and something didn't seem right. It's been awhile since I installed a clutch and never in an Avanti. But just before I dropped the engine in, I switched it out with mine. I compared them closely when both were laying next to each other. Mine has 5 springs and the Sachs disc had 10. 5 with 5 over. When the other disk was in, I had about 3/16 between the fingers and the springs. There was no way you could depress the clutch without the fingers hitting the springs. My springs were about the same dia. as the inner springs on the new disc. The outer springs were the size of GM valve springs. With my disk in, Clearance is fine. Contacted seller and he said He hadn't had any problems. He took it back. Just wondering if anyone has seen that before.

so, Ican open the door with the top rod? -
The upper rod is attached to the lock, the lower to the door handle
-
The door is shut and the outside door opening handle is not on the door. The interior door card is off of the door and the inside latch handle is not attached.... there are two rods on the upper part of the inside of the door ... which one is the one to open the latch?
-
I assumed that would be OK. But I was waiting for someone to suggest that it would be OK too!

Owned by the Cloudflare user and has 4 associated IP addresses, the first two (172.67.134.147/104.21.6.68 ) are located /originating in or near San Francisco, CA. Reason for being unknown, but he spent a little change getting this set up...

When I had the blasting company we would get in various impossible to find gas tanks that had been cut in half so we could gently blast the inside of the rusty crud. They then rewelded and used a sealer to seal the blasted inside. A lot cheaper than trying to buy or build a new tank in those cases.

Yes, a Avanti website they say with not one photo of a actual Avanti. Not for me

Palm Springs Studebaker dealer style license plate frame.

Sorry, no San Bernardino, only Palm Springs. Still a nice addition to an Avanti. -
Wow!…. It appears you’ve definitely caught the ‘Avanti Virus’ !!!… Good for you!
