Great history and the vid was wonderful.. Thanks.

Yes, there is. Years ago some Avanti owners swapped out their original seats for something else. Most people today try to return their cars to original. --Dwight

I have front seats from an early 63 in Elk. Drivers has usual wear, needs repair. Passenger seat in excellent condition, is there a market for them? After many years I’m ready to part with them.
-
I did. Still waiting for a reply.

There is an article written by Jim Lange in the Spring, 1996 Avanti Magazine issue 95. Here is a link to his obituary. Effingham, Illinois Native and Bonneville Salt Flats Racer Jim Lange Passes Away, Leaving Behind Daughters Sherry and Shelly, and Family

Why not ask the folks at Newark Carpet?
-
Does your Avanti have A/C?… I’ve seen Avanti carpet sets that supply both types of console forward carpets.
-
I have the console forward pieces installed. Those must go somewhere else. But thank-you for the input.
-
The two upper curved carpets look like the console forward side pieces.
-
Jim made Studebaker Avantis ‘ jump through hoops’ at Bonneville… He will be truly missed.
-
I bought a carpet kit from Newark Carpet for my Avanti. The set fit perfectly. However I have four pieces left that I cannot find where they go. I need to still cover the kick panels and not of the leftover pieces fit there. If someone has used this kit before, I could use some help to find out where they go.
-
Whew!…. My simple on-off toggle switch, which controls converter lockup, was installed approx 15 years ago in my 700R4…. Have had no transmission problems whatsoever with an ‘83 Avanti used everyday—- summer and winter! Cost at the time… about $4.00
-
Thanks to all of you that took your time to offer me advice! I appreciate it and you! Good thing I had a long enough screwdriver and could reach the latch! Success!
-
You can release trunk lock by opening hatch under rear window… reaching in with flashlight & long, flat screwdriver and rotating latch release pawl from backside.
-
Holy cow; what an impressive Avanti II !
-
Kane started following Power Trunk Release quit
-
I need some ideas here. On my 82 the trunk slammed shut and now, the power trunk release does nothing. Makes no noise…nothing. Anybody know how to get the trunk unlocked/unlatched so I can get inside it and figure out what happened? TIA

WANTED: Power booster for AVANTI R1, model 1964, R4754
Dwight FitzSimons replied to Paul Manders's topic in Avanti Parts
Hi, Paul, The guys at S-A are world-class in terms of knowledge of parts, so they probably sent you everything that you need (minus the booster itself). I'll hang onto the booster. Just let me know what do do next. I'll dig around & see if I have an original Carter R1 fuel pump (core). (BTW, Matt Burnette at S-A rebuilds fuel pumps.) --Dwight -
1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 4 speed. One of only 1,833 examples produced for the 1963 and 1964 model years with a Paxton-supercharged R2 289ci V8 - and one of only 643 units that are reported to have paired the R2 powerplant with a four-speed manual transmission. The car had an engine out repaint in factory correct Avanti Red in 2024 and the seats were redone with new padding and new black vinyl covers. Front and rear bumpers were rechromed as well. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, power- assisted front disc brakes, power steering, Avanti wheel covers, dual chrome exterior mirrors, a push button AM radio, floor mats, and a Beauty Vanity. This R2 is now offered with a copy of the Passenger Car Production Order, an owner's manual, service records from current and prior ownership, and a clean Ohio title in the seller's name. WANTED: Power booster for AVANTI R1, model 1964, R4754
Paul Manders replied to Paul Manders's topic in Avanti Parts
Dear Dwight, it's great that you still have the booster. The bracket and rods were missing when I bought the car, but I was able to buy them from SA 2nd hand. There I also bought the carburetor with air filter, distributor, power steering pump with cylinder, and some other missing parts. I'm still missing the correct R1 fuel pump, the cooling section of the air conditioning unit near the radiator, and some small parts, some of which I'll buy from SI. No rush on this. I'm currently in France, so I can't email you photos of the booster and bracket. I only have one picture of the engine block on my phone. / Regards, Paul -
I dug out my original old mounts (I'm resistant to chucking things away) ... There is an embossed number on the rubber - 330973 The spacing in between the bolt-hole 'Ears' is exactly 2 5/8" What is important and I see advertised, is that they fit corvettes from 1972 to 1984. They are the safety "Locking" type mounts. The ones I replaced were exactly the same as the new ones- these feature the extra 'Spacers' in between the Bolt Ears. They are in the chassis at this time so I know they fitted. On further research, I'd recommend your looking at this site https://tech.corvettecentral.com/2011/02/introducing-correct-c2-c3-motor-mounts-from-corvette-central/ I hope this helps.

WANTED: Power booster for AVANTI R1, model 1964, R4754
Dwight FitzSimons replied to Paul Manders's topic in Avanti Parts
Hi, Paul, That looks like an excellent start toward a nice Avanti. I have an original Avanti booster in hand. Because your car had an incorrect booster it may be missing brackets, etc. Can you photograph the booster & brackets that you have? In the meantime I'll photograph mine and we'll compare notes. --Dwight
