  2. MFG: Now's your chance to have a set of 83 Daytons to compliment your car. (Hint, Hint, Nudge, Nudge, Saynomore, Saynomore)
  3. Today
  4. ATTENTION!! The Dayton Wires have been placed in the "For Sale" section.
  5. Good day. I recently purchased new American Racing Mags for my 83 Avanti and I'm selling the Dayton wires. I'll be suing the AR boxes for shipping as they are very well built and should protect the Daytons during shipping. I'm not sure of the cost of shipping, so the price per wheel will be what I'm asking without shipping. If you're local to the Northern Virginia area and can pick them up price will remain the same without shipping. Per Wheel; $125.00
  6. I looked, but all I could find was one roster from 2009. R1830 was not listed. I recently gave away a complete collection of AOAI magazines and newsletters going back to the first issue. I may have included the early rosters I'm thinking about with those magazines. If I do still have them and find them, I'll see if R1830 is listed.
  7. I did have a few early rosters. One was not dated, but I believe it was from the late 60's or early 70's. The others were from the mid to late 70's. If I still have them, I'll take a look and see what I can find.
  8. The 2025 AOAI meet will be in Washington, PA in the next few weeks. It is a joint meet with the Studebaker Drivers Club. The 2026 SDC International Meet is currently planned for Sept. 23-26 in Waxahachie, Texas (near Dallas). Assuming the 2025 joint meet is successful and the 2026 meet will also be a joint meet, the AOAI meet might be at the same location and dates. https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forum/your-studebaker-forum/general-studebaker-specific-discussion/2060021-when-and-where-is-the-2026-international-meet
  9. Let's not get into this kind of rhetoric. As far as the term "salt & pepper" carpet is concerned I will note that a true salt & pepper carpet would have to be black with white speckles. Fawn (light tan) looks nothing like salt. AFAIK Studebaker never used the term salt & pepper. So, it is a term made up by Studebaker fans. Therefore, no one person can define the term's meaning. The meaning is what the majority of Studebaker people say it is. Ok, so let's vote. --Dwight

  11. Since my friend/troll Regnalbob brought this up (again).. I’ll take this opportunity to say once again that I wasn’t ‘banned’ from the other forum… I quit that forum.. and the following day the administrator ‘banned’ me! (Word to wise… Never request that a Stude forum administrator disclose what that ‘not for profit’ car club is paying him!)
  12. Regnalbob my friend… you are also my favorite troll!!……….Also, I used the DESCRIPTIVE word ‘tan’ because you didn’t seem to comprehend what ‘Fawn’ was!
  13. A manual switch controlling the torque converter lockup is the smart play! The factory ECM seemed to lockup the converter in my own ‘83 Avanti way too early.. and some aftermarket kit just might do the same! if flipping a console mounted switch is too tiring, perhaps going to bed earlier would help?

This is a reply from you on the SDC Forum. No mention of just tan & black. When you ask questions you will need to specify if you want answers to the question or the intent of the question. Studebaker did not offer a tan and black carpet, it is Fawn and Black. If you have tan or Fawn salt you should be very cautious when you use it. Take the time to educate yourself on the use of the term salt and pepper and you will find it does not apply only to Fawn & Black. The answer to the question is false for one reason. There were 4 combinations and not 3 which you confirmed as correct salt and pepper. Lastly, don't ever call me friend. Have a nice day.
  15. It would probably perform better without the ECM. The transmission lock up converter is controlled by the ECM so when you remove it, you lose the lock up converter. Some people will tell you that you can put in a manual switch and activate the converter lock up every time it goes into 4th gear. For me, that's a bunch of activity that I don't want to deal with, so I'd invest in the kit that goes into the transmission valve body which automatically locks up the converter in 4th gear. While that's being done, you can change the transmission filter also.
  16. 17" space saver off of a Ford 500 sedan. I bought mine new off of eBay a couple of years ago. Height was a perfect match for the tires on the car, fit into the spare tire well and allowed the floor to be flat.
  17. Carpeting on the back wall of the trunk was eliminated at R-4309.
  18. Thank you Kodjo! seems to work
  19. Thank you! I just got it and put it in - seems to Work 🙂 Long distance test next Saturday
  20. I'm 90% convinced to replace my 112k mile 305 original engine in my 89. Probably going to put in an ATK 350ci 290 HP. They have the engine fully dressed or long block. Fully dressed includes carb that is NOT injected like my original so needing to remove the ECM. Opinions ! on removing ECM or just getting the long block and putting my Carb and distributer on new engine.. Thoughts appreciated. Its a winter project.
  21. Bob, once again you need to try and understand a questions INTENT… The answer to this trivia question is FALSE for TWO reasons… 1) The ‘tan & black’ is the only carpet color that can be considered as ‘salt & pepper’ ((for rather obvious reasons I think!) 2) Studebaker offered more than three carpet color combinations on their 1963 Avantis. Again Bob my friend,…… If the salt you are using at home is red, orange, or even turquoise…. I would be VERY cautious when you use it!!!!! Have a nice day!
  22. Anyone from Washington State driving? Mike
  23. So it sounds like your Avanti was built with the red & black speckled carpeting even though it’s almost 300 units later than when the red & black carpeting was withdrawn…. As Dwight indicated, and I agree, conflicting production information like this make the story of the Studebaker Avanti even more interesting!
  24. You now tell us there is only one salt & pepper carpet.
  25. OK. You mean only Fawn and Black is "Salt & Pepper" color, and by the looks of it. Good explanation. The list of running changes shows red and black for all black 4275. Still... my Avanti is 4543 and it has red and black carpet and a carpet that covers the entire front seat from underneath. I believe it is original. In poor condition and has been there for a very long time. At least in 1976. Also interesting is that the trunk was only carpeted on the bottom. Could this be because my Avanti is a "Las Vegas Driveaway" and has exceptions due to rush or other reasons. R4543 suppose not to include changes to -64. All other things are like -63 model. Even the manual shifter without chrome ring etc.
  26. EXACTLY Regnalbob!…..Answer…..FALSE… Studebaker offered FOUR ‘speckled’ carpet colors for ‘ 63 Avantis…. However, only ONE was ‘salt & pepper! Hence… answer FALSE! Thanks…Regnalbob ——- gender….Male location….Pennsylvania Avantis owned….’63…..63R2809 ‘63…. 63R4137 AOAI Forum member
