  1. Past hour
  2. Sorry no, not five!
  3. Today
  4. 😊
  5. My pleasure!…: Engineering that bellhousing had to be pricey!
  6. I take back some of the bad things I thought about Checker.
  7. Five
  8. A period of ….?…. years had elapsed between the times a new Studebaker Avanti, and later a new Avanti ll had been displayed at the New York ‘New Car’ Auto Show. 1) Two….2) Three….3) Four….or….4) Five

    Avanti Code!

What does ‘70R3’ relate to when discussing Studebaker Avantis?
  10. Wondering if any of you Avanti/Stude fans out there might have a spare ‘underfloor’ heater core? (Hawk type, ‘53-‘62)…… I could use the length, width, and height measurements of one of these heater cores… Thanks, Ed
  11. Wow, that's a bit of history I had never seen before. Thanks for posting the question.

    Stude design!

Yes!…. Besides a change made to the center emblem… it was the very same wheelcover Stude used for years.
  13. That’s it exactly!….. Checker had the $$$$ to have that crucial part made… Something which I highly doubt Newman-Altman could have, at the time, get done.
  14. Wheelcovers
  15. Checker supplied the bell housing to adapt the Powershift transmission to the GM V-8.
  16. There are a couple of chrome paint suppliers available today, who claim they offer a stable chrome product. Yet if it were me, I'd add a chrome vinyl wrap in that area instead of paint.
  17. What Studebaker related Item did Checker Motors obtain after Stude auto production was halted to give their cabs a different, more modern look? 1) Hood ornaments….2) Steering wheels….3) Door handles….or….4) Wheelcovers
  18. Hmmmm….chrome paint…Attempted for years, but never completely successful ! This product?… Who knows??
  19. Good point…. But there is a Checker ‘item’ ….I’m pretty sure that you’ll agree with, that REALLY got the ball rolling!
  20. Facebook recently made a change to its page design that prevented visitors from posting to the "page". This has been corrected by creating a new Facebook Group for "Avanti Cars of the 2000's". If you own or have an interest in these cars, then please go to: Avanti Cars of the 2000's | Facebook
  21. Checker could be the lifesaver if one looks at it as convincing Nate Altman to do it himself as creating Avanti Motor Company rather than finding an outsider to undertake the job.
  22. Now I see the pix. Clean looking car!
  23. Phill Harris of Fairbourne Studebaker did just that. He is making them to original specs.
  24. Shoot. These days we could find somebody with a known good example, laser scan it and reman. duplicates via the 3D printing path. 3D print something for a metallurgist to work with as a mold. CNC parts out of billet aluminum would be another path. Then "Oprah" them- YOU get a pressure box. YOU get a pressure box. YOU get a pressure box. EVERYBODY gets a pressure box!
  25. It is F'n-A expensive for what you get, though if you wanted some reflective properties in that area, this could work. https://culturehustle.com/products/mirror
  26. Yesterday
  27. That’s what we’ve heard…However, I would not call that the reason Checker Motors was beneficial in the startup of Avanti Motors. Other thought on this brain twister??
  28. No…the owner of Checker refused and told Nate Altman the Avanti was ugly. That from the builder of such homely cars such as Checker.
