No Brooks…. You are the proud owner of RQB-4152!

I know that my Avanti (RQB4234) is listed on the Johnstone website… and it may say AAV there, (haven’t looked at that in awhile) However, I’m simply stating what the Avanti factory placed on the car itself….RQB. In my opinion, the ‘AAV’ prefix started with the 1987 model year Avantis (major change to Chevrolet frame) Of course, there were no 1986 model year Avantis!

Sorry, but I must disagree with you here… I presently own a 1985 Avanti… and the number stamped into the stainless steel factory plate mounted on the left ‘A’ pillar is….RQB 4234.

  6. RQB numbers were not used in 1985. The correct number is AAV-4252 and is shown on Bob Johnstone's website as being owned by Jack White of Charlotte, NC as of 5/2015. You can contact him with a current photo and your information to update his registry: avanti5011@gmail.com

  8. Hi, I have used now 4 years this. Still strong and very similar to original one. You can use Willard sticker instead of CAT. Studebaker Int. sells the sticker. https://parts.cat.com/en/catcorp/11R-2250
  9. This is the gist of what I plan to lurk beneath the body. Never mind the factory blueprint measurements as some of those shall be changing.
  10. There has to be a solution. New car dealers always try and push those extra packages before you get to the payment guy.. They definitely have something for the windshield that cuts down on the UV and lessens impact/chip of a stone and reduces the headlight glare...

Congrats!… I also own one of the rare ‘85’s…. However, I think that if your Avanti still had its internal serial number stainless steel plate on the ‘A’ pillar it would read…RQB 4152 (Not AAV)
  12. thanks!
  13. OK, i AM THE PROUD OWNER OF AAV-4152......bb

  15. Hi Brooks- The Tee is meant to be a fuel tank drain but it gets pretty negative reviews on that subject. I think it is an NPT pipe plug 1/4" ... Common NPT Pipe Plug Sizes: 1/8" NPT: The nominal size is 1/8 inch, but the actual outer diameter of the threads is approximately 0.405 inches. 1/4" NPT: The nominal size is 1/4 inch, with an outer diameter around 0.540 inches.
  16. Geeze I wish I could buy em for barely twelve bucks each - here 'down under' I was pleased to buy a pair for &95 incl post.
  17. Gunslinger, thank You Sir....BB
  18. There is likely a RQ number used internally by Avanti Motors. Probably the best way to get is to order a build sheet from Nostalgic Motors…that would have any internal accounting number on it.
  19. Hello all, I s there a RQB # for a 1985 coupe VIN # 12AAV1238F1004152?

  28. Hello All, does anyone know what is the size of tee fitting in the fuel line between the tank and pump under the passenger's side?
  29. If anyone does decide to push out the rear window… I’d order a weatherseal ahead of time The last Avanti rear glass I replaced ( I’ve done two) definitely needed a new weatherseal.
