Rogerg Posted February 22, 2019 Report Posted February 22, 2019 This issue may have been covered in the past, but my 1963 a/c failed and the diagnosis is a failed compressor. Does anyone know if someone can repair it or if there is a one for one replacement
1963r2 Posted February 22, 2019 Report Posted February 22, 2019 If it is a Yorke compressor i'm pretty sure you can still get them. If not it could be a good time to swap to a Sanden.
Gunslinger Posted February 22, 2019 Report Posted February 22, 2019 Finding a rebuilt York compressor shouldn't be difficult. If you're not concerned about originality I support the above...get a Sanden type compressor...modern, smaller, lighter and more efficient.
Rogerg Posted February 22, 2019 Author Report Posted February 22, 2019 Thanks. I believe a Sanden requires an adapter kit?
Avanti83 Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 You should be able to find an adapter on Ebay for starters. https://www.ebay.com/bhp/york-to-sanden
JLBKY Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 I don't believe that any of these "kits" address the Alternator bracket that mounts to the York Style compressor on an Avanti.
