Not quite true. ALL bodies were MADE at MFG. What you are referring to is ASSEMBLY of pre-esxisting parts

 I think that it is all in the verbiage/interpretation.  All of the body parts were made at MFG, but they did not become bodies until the parts were assembled - some in Ashtabula and some in South Bend. .

I agree with you here Gary........The first South Bend built Studebaker Avanti body was installed on the R3000 Avanti chassis.
