mfg Posted September 3, 2018 Report Posted September 3, 2018 The 1987 Avanti 'LSC' utilized a .....?....... frame. 1)' Stretched' Monte Carlo.......2) Caprice two-door.......30 El Camino......or......4) Caprice four-door
r1lark Posted September 3, 2018 Report Posted September 3, 2018 I'll take a shot. I remember that '87 was the first year for the LSC, and seems like Avanti was still using the Monte Carlo frame in '87...................so I'll say #1 stretched Monte Carlo frame. (running for cover in case I'm wrong )
studegary Posted September 3, 2018 Report Posted September 3, 2018 The "regular" Avanti coupes were using a Monte Carlo chassis for 1987 when the first LSCs were built. The LSC was nine inches longer than a coupe. For 1987 models, I believe that this was done by stretching a Monte Carlo chassis, as Paul said. For the 1988 model year, I believe that the LSC went to a Caprice chassis.
mfg Posted September 3, 2018 Author Report Posted September 3, 2018 Paul, Gary......Bad news!....both of your answers are incorrect!
brad Posted September 4, 2018 Report Posted September 4, 2018 The Monte Carlo had to be shortened for regular Avanti's so I'd guess that the LSC used a stock Monte frame.

studegary Posted September 4, 2018 Report Posted September 4, 2018 A few 1987s were built on an El Camino chassis, so this may be what you are looking for, even though I do not believe that all of the LSCs were on El Caminos.

That's it! In 1987, the Avanti LSC utilized a Chevy El Camino frame.!
