mfg Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 The overall height of a '63 Studebaker Avanti is actually higher than a '63 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk.......True?
r1lark Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) True. (At least, when I've had Avantis parked next to my '64 GT, I've been surprised that the GT was lower. Might just be that mine is lower than most, but with the Full Package springs I doubt it.) Edited October 4, 2015 by r1lark
mfg Posted October 4, 2015 Author Report Posted October 4, 2015 This is a tough question to answer due to variables such as load, tires, type of springs, etc. (as r1lark pointed out) But going by Studebaker factory specs, the Avanti is a slightly lower car in overall height....so,...Answer is....FALSE!
Gunslinger Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 I wonder if you got a Studebaker Avanti and a GT Hawk side-by-side on level and even ground, as new suspension on each, 6.70-15 tires on each...would they match published Studebaker specs? Avantis, in particular, can change from to to another depending on how many body spacers were used on any particular car.
studegary Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Loaded height for 1963 models; Hawk 54.6 inches Avanti 53.8 inches. A convertible is the tallest one (1963 car), even taller than a Wagonaire.
