The Rochester Quadrajet carburetor is shot on my 1969 with the  Chevy 350 engine that came from the factory when new.
Where can I get a replacement with an automatic choke?  I am looking for an authentic replacement.

Hi Ted- I'd strongly suggest a total rebuild of your original by a well experienced technician.  I'm looking for one too, because I'd like to eliminate the Computer controlled unit  one day, but I dont want different Throttle Bellcranks to the original and I'm not having a lot of luck finding that.  I may relent eventually and try a Chicom Copy...

I adapted a used Quadrajet taken from a ‘78 Buick for my ‘83 Avanti everyday driver.

I did this to eliminate the troublesome electronic factory Quadrajet which seemed to have a mind of its own!

After rebuilding the Buick carb with a zip kit and new composite float, it dropped right onto the stock factory manifold with no major change to the throttle linkage.

Biggest challenge was adapting the electric choke from the ‘83 carb to the ‘78 carb…. which wasn’t hard to do.

Factory air filter assy dropped right on.

The distributor also had to be changed from the stock electronically controlled advance type to the earlier Chevy vacuum advance type… again very easy to do.

I made this change approximately 400,000 miles ago… and have never looked back!!

I had a problem(s) with the Quadrajet in my 74.  Some of the people on a Camaro forum recommended Cliff's High Performance in Ohio.  Cliff discovered that my original carb body was cracked and provided a completely rebuilt Quadrajet that fit and worked fine.  I recommend him for Quadrajet parts and service.  cliffshighperformance.com

I now realize the threads in the carb that take the fuel filter housing are really worn.
I acquired a new fuel filter housing but that didn't solve the huge leaking problem.

I am now looking for a old timer that can reconstruct the threads in the carb housing for me.

They are great when new, but are essentially unrebuildable. I'd just get an Edelbrock. I've had 3 and been happy with all of them. (But they did replace AFB's so the install was super-easy)

I also like the new Edelbrock AFB’s with electronic choke…. and there are inexpensive adapter plates available to install the ‘square bore’ Edelbrock onto a stock Chevy ‘spread bore’ manifold.

Summit Racing sells a new manufacture Quadrajet that should drop on with little adapting.  Q-jet

Edelbrock carbs are excellent as well but I would suggest pairing one with one of their Performer RPM intake manifolds.  These are specifically designed for their square-bore carbs and will enhance torque and hp over using an adapter and save overall height.

Yes… the proper manifold would be the best setup.

I believe these are the Chicom copies that receive various comments online. The good thing about them appears to be the bellcrank arrangement for the throttle- it appears to be the same as the originals and a drop-on-fit, plus the correct orientation of the fuel inlet (skewed to one side). These can be had much cheaper if you buy them online on Temu and Amazon- 'Bricks and Mortar' stores need to put their profit margin on top.  Beware there are two CFM models... the ones for large capacity engines (750 CFM) are actually way cheaper than the ones for pedestrian 350's and 305's (650 CFM) but on the whole pretty inexpensive all around. Most of 'em even come with a kit of various jet sizes. I'm just about done trying to find a Quaddie with electric choke and the correct Bellcrank here in Oz, and despite my reservations, will probably end up with a Chicom.

I like GM Quadrajets when they’re working correctly… The non electronic version on my ‘83 ‘everyday driver’ never skips a beat!
