How many different styles were offered in the seats.

Posted

In 1963 there was only one front seat style, with either Deluxe or Regal upholstery.  In 1964 there were two styles, thin-back and thick back.  The upholstery was the same style on both '64 seats.

I guess I said it wrong. I knew that the seats were the same, I meant the finishing of the seats. What were the two differences.

Finishing?… Do you mean what different colors?

For the 1963 model year the Deluxe and Regal trims were available and the Deluxe trim was discontinued for the 1964 model year.

As pictured in post 5, deluxe trim had smooth, perforated vinyl inserts on the seat backs and bottoms. The regal trim had pleated vinyl with no perforations.

Thank You, exactly what I was wondering. I never see the perforated interior.

Most ‘63 model year Avantis were built with the ‘Regal’ interior….Today, seeing the ‘Deluxe’ version is a rarity.

Are there any records that show how many had which interior and how many of a color.

So, I did answer your question.

According to the Avanti production data 537 Deluxe seats were ordered in 1963 out of a total Avantis built of 3,834 or 14 %.

Thanks mark, Where is that information coming from

Should be available from the Studebaker National Museum.  Lots of data/information, well worth the purchase.

Thank you. Certainly looking into it. Don't think I have done so much reading in 20 years.

Anybody want to purchase some old toy trains. Might have to sell to restore this car. Hope it's worth it.

I will have to call the museum, nothing comes up in their store.
