The needle on the tach sticks.  Anyone know if there is a way to lubricate the needle without taking it apart.  Thanks in advance.

Nope Mel… has to come apart… but that isn’t too difficult if you place it face down on table and carefully pry the crimped down outer chromed retainer up…. 
Then the retainer, seal, and glass can be removed.

I was speaking about the early Stude type SW tachs…. Not sure about later ones!

Thanks, mfg!  It is the SW type.  Part B, What do I lube it with?  Thanks, again!

I use a really thin oil or a bit of ATF on the moving parts

     You might clean it first with lighter fluid, it helps to break down any hardened crap. then do the lube.

Usually it is the mechanical sweep sticking on the ring magnet inside the tach. You will have to center the magnet, and set it with superglue. 
Usually they hit around 2500 RPM.
