Fourward Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 Got the engine in the car!!! 3 hours with a helper. Not too bad. I have a problem with the transmission mounts on the crossmember. I think I have the passenger mount installed backwards? It is an L shape. I have the leg of the L pointed outboard. Should this point inboard? How about the driver's side? I have it outboard and loosely connected to the crossmember.
1963r2 Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 From memory both should face inward or downward and hug the bellhousing.
Fourward Posted September 21, 2023 Author Report Posted September 21, 2023 Thank you! Gotta get them off and turn em around.
regnalbob Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 Remember that there is a right and a left.
Fourward Posted September 21, 2023 Author Report Posted September 21, 2023 Oh, I'll check that too. Thanks.
John Brissette Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 Take note of the parts list above...............527974. It is a spacer that has been left off of many transmission installations.
Fourward Posted September 22, 2023 Author Report Posted September 22, 2023 I have that spacer, one of the suppliers mentioned it and why it goes there. To clear some part or tilt the engine because of some part, I forget why. Sorry.
John Brissette Posted September 22, 2023 Report Posted September 22, 2023 Whoever you spoke with is correct. It needs to be there. In my 51 years of owning my Avanti, I've read many times about this spacer being left out and "things" not lining up and functioning correctly. JB
Fourward Posted September 22, 2023 Author Report Posted September 22, 2023 AAAGhhh. I have the wrong ones on there anyway. I have the brackets, but there are no rubber cushions on them, just bolts. I noticed that while looking at the parts manual page above. Does anyone have a used pair that they would like to sell? I know I can get them from the vendors but...
