1987 master brake cylinder from ???

My repairman identified the master brake cylinder as a likely suspect of a problem, however he says the master cylinder he is looking at in the car does not seem to come from a 1987 Monte Carlo. Does anyone have any information regarding what it really is? Many thanks. JIm

I believe I once saw that the master was from a Ford, but I cannot remember the year and model.

Recently recoed and sleeved mine (from a 1981 Avanti II) which is the so called 67 Ford Fairlaine 500 MC mentioned in Regnalbob's posted link. Looks like the one pictured... any use?

Thanks guys. My mechanic identified the master brake cylinder as from a 72 Ford (I don't know the model). Have not yet tried the brakes as when I went to start the engine, it made a clunk sound and nothing else. He suspects starter issue. Glad it happened at the shop and not on the road. It turns out the battery cable connection was loose.
