mfg Posted January 1, 2023 Report Posted January 1, 2023 Name a "poor man's" way of increasing crankcase ventilation for an R1 or R2 Studebaker Avanti engine. (NOT by adding R3 type four breather valve covers...or modifying factory crank vent system)

r1lark Posted January 1, 2023 Report Posted January 1, 2023 Installing earlier breather (oil fill) caps that don't have the small orifice holes?

mfg Posted January 2, 2023 Author Report Posted January 2, 2023 ANSWER......Remove the factory cover at top front of engine block. (which caps off original oil inlet) Obtain a '61-'62 aluminum oil inlet pipe, and cut it down to approx 5" in height. Bolt modified pipe to block in place of the factory cover you removed. Add an oil fill cap to pipe, (preferably chromed)...AND START BREATHING!!
mfg Posted January 2, 2023 Author Report Posted January 2, 2023 PS...I made this mod to my own '63 Avanti approx twenty years ago.... It's not unusual to hear comments from Studebaker knowledgeable folks at car shows....always positive!
