Originally these were cad plated, I think. What is used today instead, I think that the cad plating is banned. Thanks

I always thought they were painted the body color?  .....(trunk & hood hinges)

The hood and trunk hinges are body color. But I believe items such as the hood latches etc were cad plated.

Instead of Cadmium = Matte Zinc Plating. This is very near old cadmium. Note it has to be matte.
