mfg
The Avanti's main domestic competition in 1963 was the Ford Thunderbird and the Chevrolet Corvette.....True?
Avanti83
Just an uneducated quess but T-bird - yes Corvette - no. Vette was a two-seat sports car, T-bird four seat personal luxury car. Bob
Gunslinger
Thunderbird...yes. Also it can be argued other potential competition was the Buick Riviera and even the Pontiac Grand Prix as all were competing in the same market segment.
GlennW
True on the 'vette for sure. I remember reading about how folks who put down early deposits on Avantis got tire of waiting for the actual car and took their money back & bought Corvettes which cost about the same. brad
The Rivera was a bit of competition for the Avanti dolar too.
mfg
Gunslinger & brad pretty much got this one. Answer would be NO..(on the 'Vette)...Expected competition at the time was the Ford Thundebird and the Buick Riviera. (I get GlennW's point, but the Corvette, being a two passenger car, really puts it into a different class.) Avanti83 'iced' it!
