I suggest putting this information in the "Avantis For Sale" section of the Forum.

Avanti motors built .....?...... supercharged Avanti ll's in '68-'69.
1) One........2) Two.......3) Three....or....4) Five
My memory bank is fuzzy on this. I am thinking; 2) Two.

1) Nate Altman......2) Gary Johnson.....3) Roger Penn.....or.....4) Arnold Altman
Deep in my memory bank, I am thinking 3) Roger Penn.

Confusing!...The info I have (factory order sheet) states that they are an option!
Perhaps they were considered to be a mandatory "option" on those models. You may have been able to delete them, otherwise they came with the covers.

Nope, they were still an option.....Answer FALSE!
I just went and looked at the equipment level of 20th Anniversary Avantis. It states; "install headlight lens covers". Also, the 25th Anniversary Avantis states; "headlight covers" under "standard equipment".

Front seat headroom in a 1963 Studebaker Avanti is ......?..... inches more than in a 1984 Avanti.
1) 1 1/2..........2) 3 1/2..........3) 4 1/2.......or......4) 5
I guess that the difference is in the seats and sunroof If either equipped or allowed for. I will guess 2) 3 1/2.

The trunk capacity of a 1964 Studebaker Avanti is .....?....... cubic feet.
1) Eight.......2) Ten.......3) Twelve.....or......4) Fourteen
My answer is "not enough", but for a guess I will go with 2) ten.

Do we know the exact differences between a standard 289 crank and the R3/R4 cranks? I've seen comments that the counterweights were a little larger, and the fillets on the journals have a larger radius (I think Alan posted that way back when), and also the journal sizes were slightly different to provide slightly more bearing clearance.
What Studebaker stated upon release of the R3; "Magnafluxed crankshaft of rugged construction, bearings fitted with extra clearance."

i question whether or not a library would want to dedicate space for something like this of probable limited interest to the general public. now a person perhaps just getting started with an avanti would gain a massive amount of useful information. been wrong many times before, but that is my take.
I agree with you on this. There may be a half dozen other Avantis in the state of Vermont and more than likely they already have these publications. They would be a big plus to someone new to Studebakers and Avantis.

Congratulations on the progress. It looks like something made their home in that engine compartment. Be careful cleaning it out. Wear a mask and gloves. Hopefully, they did not chew on things like wires.

Do you have a cut off switch on your battery (like one of those green knob things)?

The SDC Northeast Zone Meet is in Vermont next year (2021). That would be a good time and place to dispose of them (without shipping).

Gary, last time I checked, Lincoln (still is) and Mercury (then was) built by the FORD MOTOR COMPANY.....You missed this question by not mentioning the incorrect location...which was the relevant issue!
I agree that Lincoln and Mercury were Divisions of the Ford Motor Company, but that does not make them a "Ford dealership" any more than a Dodge only dealership was a Chrysler dealership.

In 1983, .....?..... % of the work force at Avanti Motors In South Bend was over 50 years old.
1) 25.......2) 38.....3) 52.....or.....4) 60
I believe that it was a majority, based on my observation there. It is probably 52 or 60. I will make 4) 60 my guess.
-
I think that we were both correct for different reasons. What you are referring to as a Ford dealership, was probably the Lincoln-Mercury dealership that he had in the late 1970s.
-
I remember the quote, but not who said it. It sounds like 2) McCahill.
EDIT: I do not know about a "putdown". It believe that it was quite factual.

Headlight protective covers were standard equipment on the '83 Avanti 20th Anniversary edition......True?
I was at the factory when they were being built, but I do not remember that detail. In keeping with the rest of the car, I will say True.

From beginning to end, the construction of the #28 Twenty Four Hours Of Daytona Avanti took ......?...... weeks.
1) Four......2) Six......3) Seven.....or.....4) Nine
Since it was just under two months, I will say; 3) seven weeks.

False. He had a Lincoln-Mercury dealership.

Is it possible to get the trunk lid up enough to sneak a wrench in to unbolt the hinges from the lid?
Is the lid hard to move or hitting something firm? Perhaps there is something in the trunk that has it jammed.

Thanks Studegary for the suggestions but if I cannot get the trunk lid open any further than what I showed in the photo, how am I supposed to get some PB Blaster or other penetrating oil spray all the way up into the front of the trunk to the hinge pivots?
Not easily - a long tube on the nozzle and just aim in the general direction and/or from inside the car.
-
Is the trunk lid hitting something solid or does it just seem tight? I am guessing that the hinges are just rusted. I suggest trying to spray the hinges with something like PB Blaster and letting it sit for a bit. Then, if it is not a solid stop, see if you can force the trunk open. If it is a solid stop, you will probably have to go at from another direction, like from inside the car.
EDIT: Gas struts usually fail by getting weak, not by seizing up.

Since Studebaker owned TIA at that time, I will guess a Boeing 247.
-
I will guess John Ebstein, since he was sort of a right-hand-man to Loewy.
