Hi All- I've followed this thread with a good deal of interest because I will be putting RQB3269 back on a new Frame soon. The matter of shimming has been an interest to me. This thread prompted me to look at my reference photos and the 1 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" steel Shims at the rear of the Hogtroughs were stacked 5/8" and at the Firewall they are a stack of six BIG 1/4"plates giving 1 1/4" lift above the horseshoe shaped Stand. this means there was a 'rotation' upward at the front end. Interestingly these all fall within Group 2103-116 but exist as three different part numbers... 287685, ('oldie'- listed in 1959 parts book as an engine mount 1/4" spacer in group 0101-40), 284488 (I'll assume these are 1/8") and an additional different one at the top of the stack of longer length to provide better bearing on the Fibreglass floor which I will only assume might be 1336199. So all up, I don't see a 2" lift even at the front end. š Dont'cha just love this forensic stuff !

Not sure Iād call it a ābeefā. The broad picture is that youāve made a number of derogatory comments about anyone who does things differently than you. Everyone is an idiot or a fool with their money. āTypical Americansā spending their own money however they choose. Shameful, isnāt it. Youāre obviously the smartest guy in the room. Well, maybe the second smartest. Iām no longer listening to the smartest guy in the room, so by default, youāre the smartest guy in my room at the moment. Iām still reading the room. So far it doesnāt really seem like you want to share ideas or listen and try to understand experiences other than your own. What you do is your business. Same goes for the rest of us. Letās try talking cars and prices and see if we can look past the differences we may have with others.

Maybe I should try from a PC. I've been attempting to access from my cell phone. I cleared the cookies and history, but I still can't access it.

I am confused. It has been working fine for me all morning.

It may seem to some that Iām being unfair to the Stude Forum Administrator.. however, problems such as this have sadly become fairly common on that forum. The sloppy handling of his administrative responsibilities is indicative of a person who has held onto that position for way too long⦠Time for ānew bloodā for Studebaker forum administrationā¦. A āhealthyā move for a currently stagnant venue!

OK ⦠Iāve heard of that⦠Thanks.

Not sure when it went out⦠but as of now itās still offline

Don't have any experience with hydro boost on Avanti, but did have it on Dodge Cummings 1 Ton and Airstream motorhome. Worked well for those larger, heavier vehicles. For those who don't know, hydro boost brakes are powered by the power steering pump, not engine vacuum.

Just curious, what time was the outage? I was able to access several times on the 31st.

Bob.. So what is your beef with me? Assuming again? Yes I started a thread and it's went 6 pages ..Some ballistic and some reasonable.. You determine where You fit. (I have my opinion) The subject spans a myriad of experiences and methods...That was my intent is to not only see pricing for our vehicles but others experiences..
-
Frankly, Iām not even sure what that is!!
-
Has anyone installed a hydroboost system on their Avanti? If so, any recommendations?

In case anyone may be interested, thereās an ongoing story about the four year restoration of my Golden Hawk. Itās been an interesting journey.. a labor of love really! The story/photos can be viewed on the ā56J ONLYā online quarterly website periodicalsā¦.. (Donāt let the āearly onā photos scare you!)ā¦..Ed

You actually started this thread to ask about average selling prices. Or so it seems.

Another āJā owner⦠NICE! Would you have an extra Caribbean intake manifold youāve been tripping over and want to sell???? Mine⦠stick o/d with p/s!

56J's forever!!! Yes! I have two of them, both almost rust free. Stay tuned: someone will get a good 56J cheap. --Dwight, powered by Packard

Then help me understand, because your words suggest otherwise. Since the get go youāve been focused on your ability to buy cars that magically appreciate in value by at least 50% once you hold the title. But anyone who would pay your price has to be a fool with more money than brains, because an intelligent person would pay the price you paid. Thereās no way your buyers can make 50% unless they find a bigger fool. This is the pot calling the kettle black. The cars that Iāve lost a small fortune on were tools that allowed me to get to work and make a larger fortune. I bought a number of used cars while working. The people that sold them to me lost their asses and so did I. Now, in retirement, Iāve starting buying new cars as daily drivers because I have the cash flow and I no longer need to focus on saving money. An interesting fact about real estate prices is that if your house doubles in value, so does every other house in the neighborhood. Unless your willing to downsize or move down market and realize some of those gains the increase in value useless. You may have started this thread to see how others approach buying and selling, but you only seem interested in talking about your method and youāre quite dismissive of other methods. Again, thatās just my take on your words.

Same piece with air; with air has a hole in it for ac. And, yes, the other is kick panel cover.(I Iooked yesterday -to be sure!) Do some of these carpet makers send out 2.? I have a pair sans holes in the trunk (??)

I hear you Dwight! āMy boring side storyāā¦..In 1968 I purchased a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk. I owned it for twelve years, drove it regularly, and eventually gave it an amateur restoration⦠Entered it in car shows, It was my first ādecentā car, however, I eventually sold it in 1980, moving on to Avantis! Fast forward forty one years and that same Hawk comes up for saleā¦. neglected and left outside for all those years.. most folks would have considered it to be a āparts carā at best! Well, something inside me could not let āmyā Golden Hawk be scrapped⦠I bought the car back (for probably too much money) in 2021ā¦. Over the last four years I have given the car a ādecentā restoration, bringing it back to life⦠The restoration included finding and purchasing a solid Hawk frame, and, of course pouring in more than a few dollars. (I did all work myself) Although I didnāt āneedā this car, as I already own a pretty nice 1955 President Speedster, (a very similar Studebaker), I had to save my boyhood Studebaker! I will never again sell this Golden Hawk, and if I did sell Iād no doubt lose more than a few bucks, but in some cases money becomes secondary to emotional attachment and accomplishmentā¦.. 56Jās Forever!!!!!

āHAPPY NEW YEAR 2026ā to everyone... Especially owners and fans of Avanti automobiles!!
