  3. The number I’ve seen most often is 117…though other numbers has been bandied about.
  4. Today
  5. Speaking of the last two Studebaker Avantis produced….R5642 & R5643…. Only R5642 was a ‘special ordered’ car….. True?
  6. The original Studebaker Avanti fiberglass body was made of …..?….. separate pieces. 1) 97…..2) 117…..3) 129….or…4) 145

    Avanti Values?

We all have are own reasons for owning an Avanti…. However, your calling it a “PRODUCT” was a bit much… don’t you think?
  8. Done... MFG... You can glamorize anything You want but a Car was produced... thus Product.

    Avanti Values?

Well, it’s good to hear from you again aardvark… Enjoy driving your “product” in the coming New Year!!!
  10. Skip.. I started the thread to invite opinions. It turned into a pissing match which is sad to see those in this forum degrade themselves while disrespecting others. I'll think hard before wasting my time entering opinions with low expectations of future childish crap.
  11. I believe both you guys are on to this… concentrating on the reworked shroud is the key here!… Well done! The actual answer to this trivia question is …False… Because in addition to the reworked fan shroud, a 1/4” filler panel or ‘shim’ was needed between the top radiator mounting and the reworked shroud to give just enough fan clearance.
  12. Ive owned a few of the Avanti II s but never worked on them much. I know they did jack the body up off the frame at the cowl about two inches maybe a little less but that would end up being more up at the radiator. As for the radiator shroud I would think, like Zedman, that some tweaking would have been done at the radiator shroud but I could be wrong.

    Avanti Values?

Actually, I think forum readers like to see a bit of feistiness and ‘agreement to disagree’ (hopefully)…. It keeps the old heart beating and the old blood pumping….. The only reason all of us look at and sometimes participate on this or any automotive forum, is the basic love for the vehicle (or “product” to some!!) in question…..AVANTIS!!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOLKS!!!
  14. Zedman… Happy Holidays!… The 2” came from a pretty knowledgeable Avanti restorer… but I included “about” to leave some wiggle room….. But assuming “about 2” is correct, would you say TRUE or FALSE to this question?
  15. They are great when new, but are essentially unrebuildable. I'd just get an Edelbrock. I've had 3 and been happy with all of them. (But they did replace AFB's so the install was super-easy)
  16. I don't think you could do much better than Gabriels (but you could spend a lot more) SI has originals.
  17. Go to ' Drive Train America' They probably have what you need. (I got one for a really screwed up 63 Ford 390 with a T-10 4spd.)
  18. RQB3263/305 .... i am starting my 2026 Avanti projects early ..... so i have these parts available to anyone crazy enough to come to Florida in winter and pick them up ... all running when removed yesterday ....will trade for a case or two of beer .... yaaaaa call BILL cell 386-466-6434 almost anytime (except nap time)..... BEST WISHES AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!
  19. Thanks for another helpful and informative post. That’s what keeps these things alive.
  20. I stopped reading this thread a couple of weeks ago -- and woke up this morning to discover it has added 2.5 pages in a couple of days! You guys really know how to beat a subject to death.
  21. Aardvark, I’d respond similarly in person. Of course, in person, we’d use our real names. Forums actually allow more time to write a response. It’s astounding that someone would be disturbed by a couple of folks discussing Avanti values in a thread with “Avanti Values” in the title. In person, I’d probably ask “What did you think we were going to talk about?” For someone who tells others they need to respect differing opinions yet fails to do so themselves, I’d call them a hypocrite. For someone who repeatedly takes jabs at a conversation because they believe it is pointless, I might suggest that they find someone else to talk to and strike up their own conversation. In between the disruptive posts, there has been a rational conversation. Now that I’ve deployed the ignore feature, perhaps it can continue without further interruption.
  22. I reckon the Fan Shroud might well have needed tweaking so Ill say yes to that, but two inches of shim..... I'll say no to that.
  23. Sheesh.. I edited out what I was going to say. It is always interesting what people will say to each other when not face to face, but instead on Internet. Civility gets lost.
  24. Right back to all.
  25. He has a 63 round light. Drop me a pm and I’ll get his contact info for you.
  26. SCPO-PD, Your under hood detailing looks great. What's your source (brand, paint code or color name) for your paint. I'm about to detail my 77. It's listed in the glove box as Silver Moondust Metallic but I can't find anything under that name. Thx. Steve
