  2. Do you know the difference between factory installed and dealer installed? All my information is related to factory installed.
  3. Aren't the longbolts through the rocker assembly 83 2 and 7 or am I wrong?
  4. So you don't think Fred K Fox is highly respected in the Studebaker and Avanti world. Maybe it's time you start paying attention.
  5. I miss Sears too… Hard to believe a company that big could ‘bite the dust’.
  6. Yes I do… The author of this ad is very highly respected in the Avanti world. But let me say it’s great to have you back and paying attention!
  7. Suggest you take a look at your ‘64 Studebaker AC3548 Transistor Ignition spec sheet…..This will calm your fears Bob!
  8. LOL! You think an ad for wheel covers proves that Bob Andrews designed the Avanti wheel cover.
  9. Correct. Just like the ones you could get at your local Sears Service Center. I miss Sears.
  10. The Transistorized Ignition was not a factory installed option on the Skybolt Six or regular V8s.

    Ray Loewy is CORRECT!
  15. The correct answer to this question (Bob Andrews) can be found on page 13 in Avanti Magazine #76! As the writer is still alive and hopefully well, I’m sure you understand that I do not have permission to post his name…. Once again, the magazine will put you on the right path!
  16. Assembling my R2 engine and following the torque sequence in the factory manual, I am wondering why those 5 bolts have double numbers, the 19 to 23, does that mean those bolts should be torque last for the 2nd time?,,,
  17. Raymond Loewy…he felt it helped the driver keep his attention oriented straight ahead.
  18. You forgot the ‘Skybolt Six’ …. A nice little engine!
  19. The Transistorized Ignition (Transigniter) was a factory installed option on all 1964 R1 and R2 Studebaker models. For the Avanti it was item 196 and the suggested retail price was $74.00. $57.50 Dealer cost. 3 R1s and 6 R2s were factory equipped.
  20. My guess would be Sears-Allstate tires.
  21. On the road now …However, will get you the info later tonight!
  22. Information including on early 2001-2004 VR Avantis and 2005-2007 Avanti exists because I spent countless hours documenting photo copying all available information the cars. The information exists because I knew it would be of value at some point in time. I am still transitioning out of boxes as a result of my move. On the 2001-2004 cars I have the GM Certificate of Origin for the Pontiac Firebird, GM Window stickers including selling dealer Avanti Certificate of Origins build sheets etc. The information exists because I went above and beyond to find it copy it document it. Supposition on what exists is counter productive I will make the information available for purchase when I can get to it. If i keep reading this type of crap as I have stated factually it exists I have it and will share when time allows and I'm ready
  23. As usual, nothing to support your answer, not even the name of the Studebaker expert.
  24. Which of the following Studebaker Avanti designers came up with the ‘gunsight’ on the hood idea? 1) Ray Loewy….2) Tom Kellogg….3) John Ebstein…..or……4) Bob Andrews
  25. Thanks Dwight. I shoulda looked at my own engine number table! My memory said 1963 because I believe it actually started in August 1963 (for the 1964 model year).
