If anyone is interested in a front spoiler for your Avanti, I will be bringing a couple with me to the SDC AOAI meet near Pittsburgh. There will be one on display at Bob Ziff's vendor spot (Avanti parts & restoration) for a closer look or even a test fit on your car. There is major savings in not having to ship the part. I will be arriving later on the 17th and leaving on the 20th I will only have 2, maybe 3 so if you want one, please contact me PM or call cell 215-260-8377

Bendix Power Steering Cylinder (Ram) 64' Avanti
Dwight FitzSimons replied to Andrew Maszczak's topic in 1963-64 Avanti
Lares Corp. in Minnesota rebuilds these power rams. I am about to ship them two rams for rebuild. Maybe some of the usual suspects (Studebaker suppliers) stock rebuilt power rams to sell on an exchange basis. https://www.larescorp.com/ --Dwight -
Regnalbob… Concerning the above list, where it refers to “Fawn & black” on fifth line down, it’s referring to salt & pepper Stude Avanti carpeting…. Unless that list is incorrect, salt & pepper carpeting was replaced with all black carpeting at Avanti serial.# R-4709…. Are you saying R-4709 did not have a two tone interior? Also, are you telling us a ‘63 Stude Avanti with Orange & Fawn interior would have salt & pepper carpeting? I feel that you think that all Stude Avantis with ‘two-tone’ carpeting have salt & pepper carpeting… but salt & pepper only refers to what I will call the light tan and black speckled carpeting. Take a better look at above list… it’s self explanatory!

Anything Avanti specific and not general Studebaker parts…such as trim pieces. Some have been and are being reproduced. Some are considered to be unobtantium.

All 1963 & 1964 Avantis with two tone interiors had salt & pepper carpets. The exception was the Fawn & Elk two tone with optional Black carpet. Solid Black carpet became standard with the solid color interiors starting with R-4892.

Bendix Power Steering Cylinder (Ram) 64' Avanti

Did you try Dave Thibeault? -
Hi all After countless repair attempts, it appear my power steering ram is beyond fixing. Constant leak. Would anyone have a spare ram? Or other option to replace. I note the similar era Thunderbird rams are similar.

Space saver spare for 1985 - 1989?
George Rohrbach replied to George Rohrbach's topic in 1984-91 Avanti
My wire wheel is actually off a 1987-1989 Avanti. One that fits those years, would work also. Could someone who has one of these space saver tires, let me know what it is? -
Greetings; I am new to AOAI and have joined because of my interest in the Studabaker Avanti and my hope of one day owing one. Growing up in the 1960's in northern Wisconsin, I was in an area with many lakes and many summer residents from the nearby Twin Cities of Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul). I fell in love with a gold Avanti that appeared every summer; gorgeous and different from anything I had seen. I am not able to make the Meet this year; I'd like to know if the time and location vary from year to year? I would want to block out time on my work w=schedule to make a visit possible, especially since it is primarily week days. Any information would be very useful; thanks! Brad

Could someone please tell me exactly which space saver spare tire they have, that works, for a 1985 Avanti? It was many years ago, that a lot of owners switched to using one of these mini donut type, as full size doesn't fit in the trunk very well, if at all. I used to have one, but, as stupid as it sounds, I seem to have misplaced mine! I am unable to find this information, with internet searches. Keep in mind, that the earlier ones are not an option, as the lug setup was changed to chevy with adapters, on this model. The wrong one, could have clearance issues. Thanks in advance, George Rohrbach

I recently aquired a 63 R2 with a variety of additional parts, my question is: what are some of the hardest to find parts for the early years cars?

Brad, if you want to call the WCFB a Will Carter Four Barrel…. then I too will call it a Will Carter Four Barrel…. No problem!

The Will Carter is right from the horses mouth at the Carter factory that was in St. Louis. Can't get any clearer than that.

Thank you… I did not realize they were separate sights… My apologies to Bob Johnstone. -

Once again….clerical mistakes sometimes happen……. Some kind of deliberate misrepresentation?… I doubt that very much. -

The Avanti Registry (part of the AOAI) and Bob Johnstone's Studebaker - Info.org are separate sites. If you read my post you will see it was posted on the Avanti Registry first and then posted on Bob's site. Your problem is with the Avanti Registry and not Bob Johnstone. -

Maybe Larry Crapo could help with the confusion. His contact information is in the 2025 Avanti Roster if you want to get in touch with him. -

My two cents… The Avanti Registry is a great source for finding information concerning surviving Studebaker & later Avantis, and ‘hats off’ to Mr. Johnstone for putting all this info together, however, as with any other source, there can be an occasional error. There was serial / I D # confusion concerning my own 1985 Avanti in the Avanti Registry (AAV-RQB prefix)…Certainly no big deal, but still……… -

Nelson replied to Nelson's topic in Avanti Information
There use to be a splatter paint but I couldn’t find one. I thought with something like that I could figure out how to spray it to get close to the right texture then sand it to bring the level way down to make it look more like grain. Maybe next time. -

South Bend Body production records only show that R-3544 was built with body #5082. It was ordered on 2-8-63 and built on 2-28-63. Very interesting. - Last week

Restoring a toasted Avanti dash pad the cheap way
Dwight FitzSimons replied to Nelson's topic in Avanti Information
I have seen a textured finish on the very bottom of some late model cars. I assume the intent is to prevent or hide chips. Or, maybe it is to hide rust bubbles on Northern cars. There are rattle-can spray paints that produce a "pebbled' finish so I assume this stuff does that too. --Dwight -
