Can you adjust the door towards the back using the door hinge adjustment bolts in the door? I can't tell if there is enough of a gap between the door and rear quarter panel where you can improve the window alignment? It's really hard to get a balance with the window/door adjustment on some cars.

Wow!… GREAT STORY…. He was probably driving the Due Cento… I think that was the only car there with a chute.
-
Not Paula Murphy but she was present at the dinner gathering along with a small group of Avanti icons and enthusiasts when the story was told. I'm surprised no one mentioned the Granatellis. After dinner, Vince Granatelli told how at the end of a speed run he was trying to slow the Avanti as it headed straight toward the Press bleachers at high speed. The Avanti wasn't slowing down and steering on the salt was less than ideal. He was afraid he would wipe out the entire Motoring Press in the stands. He popped the parachute and stood on the brakes and finally managed to stop the Avanti just a few feet from the Press bleachers. Members of the Press thought it was all part of the show and stood up and cheered.

I sincerely appreciate the tips and help. The back window channel is already as far back as it will go. And the bottom back edge of the glass frame is touching the fiberglass at the top back of the door opening above the lock. I think the body was just a bad mold or something. It is beyond my skill level to correct at this point.

Paula Murphy ? (It must sound like I’m picking on women here!)

The vent assembly needs to go back at the top which will correct the same area at the back. Then the back window channel needs adjusting to tilt the window out at the top. For the adjusters, check with Meyers Studebaker or Nostalgic. As a last resort, you can make some as follows: bolt, washer, (door skin), washer and locking nut.
-
This is the best fit I can get with the vent window adjusted as far back as it will go. It looks like I need to acquire the adjusting bolts that are missing (3 to be exact, one for the lower passenger side and both for the drivers). Part number 1350482. If anyone has any, I would love to buy them. None of the vendors list them in their catalogs.

Correct! You know your fluids.
-
This interests me…. I’d like to hear more about this item!
-
If it has wires and a fluid line, I would guess that it would be an electric fuel pump.

Which one of the following original Studebaker Avanti exterior colors was (apparently) Avanti team designer Tom Kellogg’s favorite? 1) Avanti Gold….2) Avanti Turquoise…..3) Avanti White….or….4) Avanti Red
-
There's a good story that goes along with the answer to this one, so I'll wait a bit longer for a correct answer.
-
Pretty sure Valvoline engine oil
-
Ashland is correct! Now, for two bonus points, name the brand of engine oil used at Bonneville.
-
1984 Avanti ‘Touring Coupes’ were equipped with top of the line Recaro Model …..?….. leather front seats. 1) A….. 2) K…..3) C….or…..4) BBS
-
More info on the ‘HO’ engines.., Most ‘83 model year Avantis were equipped with the ‘LG4’ code 165 horsepower 305 engine…… Late ‘83’s and most ‘84’s and all ‘85 Avantis (except the Touring Coupes) were equipped either the ‘L69’ 200 horsepower 305 engine.

Sure would like to hear who it was!!
-
The Bonneville Avanti driver question is difficult and isn't getting answered, so let's try an easier one. What brand of gasoline did Avantis use for the Bonneville speed runs?
-
It was not Barbara Neiland.
