Good thought, however, that's not it!:(

All of them! The Avantis were always changing, always in transition, in details and in major changes.

Can't argue with that!:)....however, we're looking for (HINT) one particular year of transition here!

Anyone else?

1986, when the Avanti went from the Studebaker chassis of 1985 and the Chevrolet chassis of 1987.

Can't say you're wrong...the frame change was a HUGE transition....however, 1986 is really not what we're looking for here!...HINT...'80's!:o

That is open to a lot of transitions - 350 to 305, coupes to convertibles and LSCs, Altman to Blake to Kelly.

ANSWER.....Although it can be said the Avanti automobile was in transition throughout the years it was in production, the Blake '83-'84 years were the ones that saw the first dramatic changes to the original Studebaker/Loewy design.... and also a RETURN (in some ways) TO the original design....(the "ll" dropped...the "cow catcher" front bumper guard removed)

As far as dramatic changes.....square headlight bulbs, composite bumpers, major interior revisions, etc.

'83-'84 were truly transition years for the Avanti,..... after '83-'84, the different management teams (by necessity) kept moving more and more away from the original Studebaker/Loewy design.
