arkus Posted September 28, 2016 Report Share Posted September 28, 2016 planning to change the filter and fluid in my '63. after reading what i could find on the net, there seems to be one camp that favors ford type "F" and another that likes dextron lll/ mercon for a somewhat smoother shift. many of these posts were years old and i'm curious if any of the newer fluids now available have found any favor among the studebaker faithful. i'm sure there are many opinions out there; good personal experiences would be most welcome. thanks! dynolou2 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 Stock clutches in the automatics were brass frictions, newer rebuilds use the paper lined clutches like all transmission today.
