IdahoBen Posted Tuesday at 03:16 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:16 AM When did the 63 change from 4 levers with one set being 2 levers with two 1/2 handles to 5 levers with alternating heights?

This is a great question that I don’t think has ever been asked before! My thought is the design was changed to make the system more user friendly.

That change was made for the 1964 model year starting around serial number R 4879.
IdahoBen Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM (edited) the 63 avanti r 1107 that I have the 4 and R 2983 that I have has the 5 levers. 1107 is a parts car so I could exchange them if it is certain that it would have come with the earlier version. Can anyone with a serial number close to my 2983 confirm what there car has? Edited Tuesday at 03:49 PM by IdahoBen
AG-R3 Posted Tuesday at 11:52 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:52 PM I gave a brief look at my photo stash and unofficially there are wings on R-4859 and balls on R-4868. I have no data in-between those...
64StudebakerAvanti Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I have R4551, It has the BKV trim option with round knobs. I understand the BKV trim was where Stude phased in the running changes for 64 models.
