mfg Posted September 29 Report Posted September 29 Fitting & adjusting of the doors, hood, and deck lid of Studebaker Avanti bodies assembled in Ohio was done at the MFG plant…… True?

Gunslinger Posted September 30 Report Posted September 30 Studebaker contracted with MFG to supply complete, painted bodies. We all know how that worked out.

mfg Posted September 30 Author Report Posted September 30 I’d guess minor door striker, hood latch and deck lid adjustments were done on Avantis during production… but as we all know it’s impossible to bend/twist fiberglass parts the way metal items can be ‘tweaked’.
Geoff Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 (edited) MFG is still in business, and in fact it was someone at MFG who leaked a sneak peak of the C7 Corvette, pre-release. I read about it on Jalopnik back when it happened, and my brain went. "I KNOW ABOUT MFG! That mutha f^**#n' group!!" My snowed-in winter work has me removing the swinging pieces (doors, hood, trunk) and working on them on some sawhorses in my basement. So I'll be right there in the "How the frig does this go back on, straight?" camp coming next Spring. Edited October 5 by Geoff Added second ¶
