Mark L Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 There's a low mileage 1964 Avanti R1 currently available on eBay. On the SDC Forum, user 6hk71400 said he was familiar with the history of the car up to about 10-15 years ago. At that time it was known to have 12,000 miles. It is currently showing 19,000+ miles. https://www.ebay.com/itm/387063397768?itmmeta=01HZRCQ8A74T9HSRR2D9Y5G1K9&hash=item5a1ec6bd88:g:lL8AAOSwQvNmYfbf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwPNcK%2BWjJQXybF7NYRCPo4zoGKDdEmHPVp2QhID91lm9fIMBSPOaEnsFHzcUIJuRMFMGgAkKnttPpCIhAClo4Rriq%2FS2m5jMfteY2EpIkDA3sV%2FuSxT6Zec1sely6JCCd2nsZuzEqYxgK3fONeHXPrdnVmVBV37jWloTsBtm24BvBHO7m0NsNHmU4ag%2BsQ8FDUjkfIrgKv7Xd%2FbIHd47uhJwPR2FKTHYrSBxNxQ%2B%2Fa51LdC08ejm1M1tqN3NNfXGKA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5aF3Yz-Yw
Avanti1963! Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 I wonder why they removed the tan front and rear seats and replaced with black. Given the serial number, this should have a solid tan interior.

Given the serial number, this should have a solid tan interior. Whatever the reason (owner preferred black?) it doesn't help the value of the car. One can fairly easily change the interior color on a '63, but it would be very difficult and expensive to do so on a '64 (with solid-color interior). The seat upholstery looks like factory original, so it's a puzzle how this came about. In any event I personally would return it to original. --Dwight ('64 R2 Avanti, red with black interior [unfortunately])
aardvark Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 I'm following this....It's not an R2 which slightly detracts from the cars end value., but the low mileage is tempting. I say that but IF the car as not been run some, it can actually cause issues . Ya gotta run Your Vehicles to keep the fluids turning and seals fresh(er).
Desert Driver Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Those black seats gotta be toasty in the summertime! You just can't beat the rake of the Studebaker built Avanti 😍
