mfg
An unusual problem cropped up with my '63 the other day when I brought it in for its annual Mass inspection sticker..... My '63 Avanti really never sees rain, and about the only time I turn the windshield wipers on is when I take it for its yearly sticker... Well, the wipers turned on fine...HOWEVER, I COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF!.... I finally got them to stay down by killing the ignition when the wipers were near their 'park' position... When I got home I installed a NOS wiper switch, and cleaned the dash grounding contact real well at the same time... Still no luck...when I turn the wipers on they want to STAY on!! Any other Stude Avanti owner ever had a similar problem?

paul shuffleburg
I had the same problem with my 51 Commander. I had to take the motor apart and clean the old grease off the parking plate and put new grease on it.
brad
Often a poor ground on the switch will mess with proper wiper operation. Check by clipping a ground jumper wier from the switch case to a known good ground. Then if it doesn't still work try adjusting the park position tab on the wiper motor itself. Will try the temp ground wire idea.
