mfg Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 A Studebaker Avanti's fuel tank is unique when compared to other period Studebaker passenger cars fuel tanks for seven reasons. Can anyone name these reasons?
1963r2 Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 My guess are as follows Location Return line Internal baffles Gravity feed Holding down straps pb
mfg Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 1963r2....Of course there HAD to be more than seven differences!!....You just added..8)baffles and 9)hold down straps!...Super Larks & Hawks had the return line if equipped with Avanti engine..so that's a NO. ...I still see four you missed.....Any other ideas?
brad Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 21 gallons as compared to 18. dedicated vent, not through the cap. Mounted inside the car instead of under the frame. Bottom exit fuel feed to pump line. Shape (of course).
mfg Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 And Brad pretty much got the rest of the differences.....the only other one I had would be the location of the fuel filler inlet..on the left side of the ROOF sail panel!
StudeNorm Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 And a few of these differences have been incorporated into almost all modern cars built today. The biggest being baffling, the internal mount and the filler neck on the sail panel...
Kennie B. Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 In fact, a great many cars have moved the fuel tank under the back seat these days.
