1963/4 Avanti Speedometer cable removal/replace

How do I access the cable connection to the speedometer ?  Can the gauges be removed by unscrewing the bazels ?

No, it has to be from under the dashboard. You can see the connection if you lie on the floor of the car under the dashboard and look up. If you have very small fingers you may be able to unscrew the cable 🙂

It is easier with the drivers seat out. At least it is for me as it a contortionist type of maneuver but I have done it many times both with and without the seat in.
